I didn't misinterpret your comment @CracklePot but mine was genuine. I will say that after 5 minutes I realised how stupid I was in getting angry about it. I was slightly disappointed that eq was the first effect added (I wanted that sweet launchpad delay) but grabbed it on sale and really like it also, very useful for getting things to blend well together and saves me some time in Ableton after export.

Ha ha! It seems I misinterpreted you. Good times! :)

Audio Damage Rough Rider 2. It makes my big sounds even bigger. It’s an app that breathes.

Ah yes, a real gem, that one.

  • Sort of a cheat, but I like sequencism which is free but with Rozeta which isn’t

    BM3!

    lol

For two more days but it's my favorite iOS DAW even at $40!

  • Synth Book!

Take it from Jakob, “It’s incredible!”

  • Turquoise DS is another pretty damn great free app.
I still have not spent enough time with it, but always enjoy the results.

    3,49 Euro

  • BM3 for me too.
Downloaded it, opened it and had a quick look round.
Looks big and feature packed. Shame I can’t find time to explore it fully right now.
I would say GB, but I’m sure I spent 2.99 on it at some point?!

  • Nebulous, Strandorgan, Frobulator, FM essential

  • People mentioning Synth Book. Where is it?!

Oops! It was originally a couple of dollars, but then went free for at least a year or so. I did not know that it was once again at a price. It is still a pretty unique and potentially deep "percussion" synth.

Search “Yamaha synth book” in AppStore and change filter to “iPhone only”.

  • Garageband, hands down. Love everything about it, especially Alchemy synth. That synth made me abandon my Korg Kronos ever since i got an ipad and that's saying something.

Wow burea and pitea organ(same dev as strand organ) are $75cdn each. And I own both. They used to be free.
Are they really worth that money? I don't have them installed as they take up 1.5gb each

They’re 1.5 gb each because the developer did a massive amount of sampling in order to enable musicians to recreate, as closely as possible, the experience of playing these massive organs. If this isn’t something you don’t want to pay $75cdn to do, then it’s not worth it to you. There are also free versions of apps by the same developer which give you a sense of what it would be like but which have limited functionality.

Jam Synth and Yamaha Synth book are probably my two favorite free apps; The first is a synth simulator for guitar.

  • Free apps I couldn’t live without are Midimittr and Launchpad. Although I did have to buy all the IAP for Launchpad. Playground is a really fun free app. My daughter also really loves it, thinks she’s A DJ!
Then there is GarageBand....I would use this app so much but I cannot midi sync it with Ableton Link which renders it almost useless to me because I perform more than record. If I could use the percussionists, Alchemy, Chinese instruments and the live loops with all my Ableton Link apps this would be amazing...for now I have to export clips, but its not a big deal. I would just love to fire up GarageBand in the middle of an Ableton Live session and rip on Alchemy or any of the awesome instruments it has. GarageBand really is amazing. Hard to believe it’s free...

Same. as a matter of fact if GarageBand iOS cost $79 or even $99 I would still happily buy it

  • Figure and FM player.

    Haha! Thanks, @ecou !

Jakob actually composed part of the music at the beginning too... So he was an inspiration on multiple levels!

Here is my list of favorite free apps:

    • GarageBand -> this is worth over $100 easily!
    • Music Memos -> another Apple app -> can import the 3-track work (vocal, guitar, drums) into GarageBand
    • Logic Remote
    • FM Player -> they (audiokit) also offer source code for free!!
    • Synth One -> from AudioKit pending release with source code again!
    • Medly
    • Figure
    • Rough Rider
    • Nanologue
    • SmartClick
    • ClearTune
    • Etc.

    HTH

  • The old Auxy. Nothing special but it's the sketchpad I probably use most often.

  • Today, it is the updated Tonebridge. Plan on using the Tonewizard as a learning resource. B)
