i'm curious, what album/songs are you listening to that sounds badly produced? i only have the spaces and victoria albums
I personally think the albums are interestingly / well produced. Possibly the issue people are referring too is that he commonly close mic’s his pianos because he wants to capture the sound of the mechanics and keys etc. Whether this detracts from your appreciation is a matter of personal taste, but in the era of everyone having access to perfectly recorded, priceless grand pianos via vst or app this is definitely one way of expressing your recordings are ‘real’.
Notably Felt and Spaces. Especially in Felt you can sometimes hear his breathing and other recording noise louder than his playing.
you can hear his breathing on it? funny, i just watched a video for one of his new tracks and it looked like he was playing with a roll-up in his mouth!
on Felt he's got felt on his piano. inner city life. wish i didn't have any neighbours
i just got Spells by Ben Lukas Boysen. Golden times
