Interested as to what the last one will sound like

  • I'll have the last one up first thing tomorrow morning, I will say that there are some very good sounds in there though

  • Having invested in Neo-Soul Keys and a number of iSymphonic apps and IAPs I have sat out Module and all of its extras. I think I am going to stay on that path but enjoying hearing the new sounds.

  • I bought them all like a good boy

  • Well I’m all in :)

As a NEO lover it's hard to pony up for the Scarbee. But, it IS Friday, you know, so willing to be persuaded if anyone wants to make the case :)

I haven’t heard the Module Scarbee yet, but I’ve used Scarbee on desktop for years, and I’ve had Neo Soul Keys Studio for iPad since last November. Neo Soul is quite nice, has a certain “vibe” to it, but I still prefer Scarbee as my overall general purpose Rhodes. I think it sits in more mixes better. Also Neo Soul suitcase has some out of tune notes in the C1 range at high velocity. I know that Gospel Musicians will argue that such flaws are part of the “charm” or “character” of the instrument—and I can buy into that to some degree, but not when it comes to tuning. A real Rhodes might fluctuate in pitch slightly when you really slam on a low note, but not exactly the same way every time, same note in the exact same velocity, like it does with a sample. If it did, I would replace that tine. So I don’t buy it as a desirable imperfection. I noticed this flaw almost immediately and it bothers me every time I hear it. It just sounds off, and I think Gospel Musicians should fix that one flaw. Bottom line: if the song I was working on featured those out if tune notes prominently, I would definitely choose Scarbee. It’s good to have both. Neo Soul holds its own and has its uses, but overall I have yet to find anything I like as much as Scarbee.

Curious to see if the Module Scarbee works for you the same way as your desktop version-

Your note about NeoSoul suitcase is interesting, is this something you’re noticing in the AUv3?

Yes. AUv3 is the only way I have used Neo Soul Keys Studio. It is basically the only way you CAN use it, since it doesn’t support IAA or AudioBus. One of the only current instruments I know of that doesn’t support IAA.

Appreciate your input/views/knowledge. Particularly the nudge towards not making it an either/or decision.

  • Impressed with both demos so far, the orchestral one is the standout for me.

Never noticed that about Studio, I’ve either become AU-centric or was remembering (probably wrongly) the previous Neo...

  • Here is the Dreamy Synths

  • Scarbee ep88 is the iOS port of the Kontakt version, can't really go wrong with it to be honest. Waiting for the day where Keyscape would be ported to iOS, i guess i'll keep dreaming lol.

  • switching preset in Module is so bad, but in Gadget is much worse. They are so lazy to fix it.

  • Just when I thought that Dreamy Synths was of little interest, along comes a much more interesting set of sounds. But in general I am reluctant to get sampled synths when I have so many actual (virtual) synths already to cook up my own sounds.

Not really or? The Kontakt version (version 2) has 30 velocities and over 13GB content plus a lot more editing features.
Even version 1 which was a lot more limited had 2.5GB content.

  • To be fair though, not many people would buy a 13 GB instrument on iOS, so it is a necessity to scale it down

Maybe. But then iOS will never grow to better sample libraries. The only other way would be great physical modelling like Pianoteq etc.
But then i wonder why people willing to pay that price for much stripped down instruments while there are 512GB iPads etc.
I mean a lot stuff in GarageBand is better and free.

  • Thanks for the demo’s @thesoundtestroom

Would be nice if Korg does a ‘World’ pack/gadget.

  • Unless the Buddhists are right, we only live once. So just got myself Module (via Doug’s link) plus the new orchestral pack and triton. Very, very nice, playing under AUM using various Rozetta thingies.

    Thanks Zen, top man

  • Thanks Duggy...Dreamy Synths sound very nice

Even if you do live more than once, who knows if you‘ll have an iPad in your next life, so: good decision

In my next life, it may be a world where Steve Jobs last wish was free iPads for all. ;)

  • I purchased new sounds on my iPad. How do I get them on my iPhone. Thanks.

Nice thought with AUM/Roz. And agree on the 'we're a long time dead' approach...I find Module fiddly sometimes -hard to get it to work with the Arturia keyboard/works fine with the Novation; not always easy to setup in some workflows etc etc and YES the patch access/list is crap- BUT it's still a real workhorse that ends up on almost everything....

  • Let 2018 be the year when all Korg apps go AUv3...

  • Anyone know where store menu is on iPhone in Module? Thanks.
