iOptigan - keys stick and also don’t work

Anyone trying to use this?

I understand that this is made to work exactly as it did in real life but isn’t there a way to at least make the organ keys…work? They stick in sustain ALL the time when playing and it can be hard to unstick them. Not only that, the keys won’t fire a lot of the time.

Glitches are fine if they are subtle and don’t completely breakdown a performance. But these do. I don’t know what the polyphony is but three note chords are inconsistent (forget about more than that) and even single notes don’t fire often. Is there an option to make it work without glitches?

  • I don't know.

I bought it and all the iap to use with iVSC3 on some retro experimental piece and never got around to it.

I willl give it a whirl.

  • Sounds like you've been playing around in settings. If you've turned on "Radio Mode for Keys" in the settings, it toggles keys on/off when you press them. The keys that are currently sounding will stay toggled on even if you go back into settings and turn it off again. Even if you flip the power switch to off.

What you have to do is turn Radio Mode back on, toggle all the keys off (they should be greyed out to show they're depressed), and then turn Radio Mode off.

  • Not sure about them not firing at all, but I suspect it's also related to Radio Mode or something else you've done in settings. Works fine here.

  • Oh shit i forgot about this. Time to bust it out

Don't do it. This app is too sticky. You'll lose the day.

Haha, I had no problem at all.

  • No that’s not it. I never had radio mode on. Until you told me about it. Tried it but that’s not what was happening. It was random and mashing the keys sometimes unstuck them, sometimes stuck more keys. Couldn’t tell if playing the same key again fixed it. I just closed the app and tried again for a while. But it was untenable.

I feel like I’m crazy or something. I even deleted the app and reinstalled. I also feel like it happens more with a midi keyboard but I couldn’t tell exactly. Ug?

  • Sorry that didn't help. I guess you'll just have to try contacting the dev.

  • Thanks for the feedback!
