Chord shapes in alternate tunings ( app wanted)
is there an app that shows how the same chord looks different in alternate tunings (drop d, perfect fourth, etc etc..)
like.. in "Em7" the fingers are shown in diagram A for standard tuning, diagram B shows the same chord for "open tuning".
Sorry, non-player asking.

Ukulele or Mandolin?

more than one string is too much to handle at this stage.
That or a mountain dulcimer. You can get by only playing one string and it has a diatonic fretboard so you are always in tune! As long as everyone else plays in the same key.
This one is free, but only one chord, one tuning at a time. Still has lots of tunings, and a few different instruments, and did I mention it is free?

Guitar Toolkit Plus does this. It doesn't have side-by-side comparative diagrams, but allows you to change the number of strings, has many alternate tunings, and allows you to create your own.
I think some or all of those features may require IAP's. I don't remember since I bought it so long ago. It's a great toolset for advanced and learning players alike.
I checked out Chord! mentioned from @oat_phipps:
you can enter a song with the original chords and then cycle through the different tunings.
adding other instruments is also possible( ukulele and mandolin are already there
It doesn't have side-by-side comparative diagrams. for that you'd have to print out the song in standard tuning and then compare it to the other tunings on the screen.
in the settings you can say you'd only want 3 finger and max 2 frets apart and then check if all the chords in your song would be there in some special tuning
help for chord progressions is also available, no MIDI thou.
appstore:Chord! price 5.5 €/$
this program has best met my requirements.
fretcetera
does less for free (one chord at a time) and for 2€/$ iap you'll get more , but less than Chord!

Guitar Toolkit+
the Chord Sheet Creation & Editing comes in the 12$ plus version which was too much for me -without a guitar-
just for checking the fingerings. but it also offers more: drum accompaniment , tuner, metronome so some of you may check it out, it just wasn't the right app for me.

Thanks for the suggestions.
Thanks for the follow-up, and glad to hear you found something suitable. Now I have to go check out Chord! again. Looked at it on Android about 4 years ago and forgot all about it on iOS.
