Any Faderfox users here (with IOS not Ableton)
I’ve just stupidly bought faderfox lv2 on eBay and subsequently read that all of the controls aren’t programmable (CCs, notes, PMs, midi channels you name it). Looking at the documentation everything seems all over the place, especially midi channels. I was hoping to use it primarily with Circuit but that would require a programmable controller as Circuit is all fixed as well.
It also drives me crazy when they produce battery powered equipment with 3 batteries, which basically screws up the whole idea of rechargeable batteries since most chargers work in pairs.
All in all I’ve cancelled the purchase and as you can imagine I’ve pissed off the seller (who might even be a member of this forum). Since the damage can’t be undone I’m trying to learn from this experience and see if there’s any other faderfox products that are useable on iOS/Novation Circuit.
Thanks

Bummer to hear. I have the UC4 and it’s great, plus easily programmable on the unit itself. Awesome to be able to change “pages” for the knobs and faders separately per preset, Bus powered USB midi, make sure to get an extra one of their proprietary DIN midi cables if you want Din in+out at the same time as it just comes with one. I have to say, I really love this thing.
Here it is
Good idea!
Never thought about trying my Fox with iOS.
@supadom You can use all 12 faders, the 2 joysticks and some buttons on channel 12 (or 15, if you change sys config).
You can use rechargable batteries (I'm using Nimh cells from the supermarket) or an external power supply, no problem.
It's made for Ableton Live but even without using MidiFlow on iOS you can do a lot out-of-the-box. The only thing I really miss is customizable CC settings that I can store into 16..32 presets, but hey, once you've mapped the fixed MIDI CCs to your iOS synths, there's not much missing to be useful as-is.
The new Faderfox stuff gives you a Special Snap Shots mode that really is the Secret Sauce to avoid value jumps on IOS.
Faderfox seem to be the only people doing this for hardware. This was the first major limitation we came across setting up midi controllers on iOS. Faderfox let's you change each knob from jump to snap, which helps avoid annoying value jumps.
This video led to me purchasing this and a beatstep pro. It's not cheap but its really hands on and let's you map whatever you like on multiple pages.

give the faderfox dev a shout as he is a very helpful dude... can vouch their stuff is definitely quality
Yep I ordered an extra midi cable from him directly on a tight deadline back when I was living in Germany - he was very responsive and got it to me straight away
