Looking for AU delay that has ability to have multi-measure delay times sync'd to midi clock

Subject basically says it all... I need a delay (I'm pretty sure I have all of them, but I'm hoping I'm missing one, or maybe missing a feature in one I have) that can sync to Link/Midi and has the ability to set delay time to be like 12 qtr notes (i.e. 3 bars in 4/4) , or 16 qtr notes (i.e. 4 bars in 4/4).

I'm pretty sure all the ones I have max out at like 1 bar...

Does anyone know of a delay that can do this?

I don't want to use a looper btw, I know that could be set up to sort of do this (i.e. 4 bar loop on overdub)... Really want to do it with delay.

Thanks!

  • FWIW, Loopy does have a 'feedback' setting that will let you treat a loop track like a regular old long-length delay. Can set it low enough that you only ever hear the looped item once.

  • Virsyn tapdelay maybe?

  • RP-1 does up to 4 bars.

Are you referring to loop fade? That would almost work if there was a way, maybe there is, to have loopy create a blank loop... like the rc505 can do. Set it for 4 bars, and it creates a 4 bar blank loop for overdubbing.

I’ll play around with the loop fade in loopy though to see if it will do what I have in mind.

    Thanks!

Rp1 is REALLY unstable for me in AUM... I’m always seeing it crash out. Waaay more than any other au’s except maybe their reverb which is also a crash monster.

Weird?!? RP-1 my go-to delay and it has never crashed on me...

Loopy absolutely works this way, so much fun.

Also... if you are willing to use Loopy which is not AU, would you be interested in AUFX:Dub ?
[Edit:] AUFX: Dub has a 5000ms delay but when MIDI synced the max is 1bar, so I guess that won’t work.

You could use that 5000 ms delay in AUFX Dub along with a calculator. Divide 60 by the BPM, and you have the length of one beat. Then just multiply that by the number of beats you want.
Example: I want a delay of 5 beats and my tempo is 93 bpm.
    So, 60 / 93 = 0.6451612903, then, 0.6451612903 * 5 = 3.226 sec or 3226 ms.

Math? Do you not see the word "drum" in my handle?

  • Just to answer my own question in case anyone comes along... The best solution for this kind of looping and delay is 100% Kosmonaut from Bram... Just about a perfect delay app on iOS.

    Sorry. My bad. :)

    Indeed. B)

  • I was going to say Kosmonaut as well...
