Transfer presets to IPad Air

edited November 2013 in General App Discussion

If I restore my IPad 3 ICloud backup to my new IPad Air will the various app presets that I created(Animoog,Nave,Sunrizer,ISEM,Etc.) be copied over with the apps or do I have to use a PC with something like ifunbox?Hopefully the first scenario because my computer just died :( Or would Dropbox work? Please help!

  • iCloud should work. That's the point of it after all, to back up your app data.

  • I did this last week. Backed up the iPad 2 to iCloud and then restored the new iPad 4 from the backup.

It worked pretty well, with a couple of hiccups. The main thing that breaks is that not all apps will restore IAPs.

Alchemy: had to reinstall and restore all IAPs, it lost my favourites but I simply scrolled through them on the old iPad to restore them on the new one.

Animoog: got very confused about IAPs, had to delete it, reboot, reinstall it and restore IAPs. Luckily I had a backup of my recordings done on the four track in Audioshare.

Impaktor: this lost all my sessions, which was a shame.

Auria: this would have worked, but it lost all the presets for the filters, so I had to save my work to Dropbox, delete the app, reinstall it, restore purchases and then re-open my work from Dropbox.

But the vast majority of apps were OK, data and all - in fact I was surprised at the amount of data that transferred without any problems.
