Ipad and dents

Hi -

I have an offer to buy a used Ipad Pro 12,9 - 128GB - at a really good price - the display/screen is flawless - functionallity is at 100% - but the backside shows scratches and a dent ...

so - anybody out there has experiences with dents at the backside of Ipads ?

are there things that can happen in longterm - although functionallity doesn´t show any problems up to now?

  • Watch for bends. It happened to mine and caused excessive pressure on the lcd. Scratches and dents shouldn’t be an issue

  • I bought a 64gb MINI 2 two weeks ago, it is shaped like a banana, there is pressure on the LCD, I stuck it in a Griffin defender and will use it till it dies, but its working great so far, not bad for £60 including the brand new case :)

  • ok - thanks - can check it out later today - and will see how it looks/feels in reality ...

  • One thing you could do is to look on google for a picture of this Ipad without the back casing to see what is behind that section. It’s likely the battery and if charging isn’t affected then you’re probably ok. As @mschenkel.it has suggested a bend might be more of an issue as it might affect the screen.

That type of battery generally has quite a bit of flex so it should be fine but I guess once you know what’s behind you have a better idea what faults (if any) to look for.

    good advice - thanks -

will go to an Ipad-Repair-Shop now and show them the picture - let´s see what their experience tells them about things like this ...

btw - since you mentioned the price - the price is the same as I had to pay for the cheapest offer for a new 2017 9,7 Ipad - 128 GB ...

the flexband should be there ...

just to let you know: the dent was not a problem at all - I would have bought the pad with it - since it was quite minimal in reality (it appeared to be worse on the photograph) -

but the Ipad was also bent (which the owner hasn´t noticed before and even I just recognized after a while) - but there was a gap of about 4-5 mm in the center of the ipad - when it was layed down flat with the display facing the table ...

so - no - I remembered mschenkel.it´s advice and haven´t bought it ... although the IPad itself was very tempting ... )
