GarageBand automation bug?
I have a track in GB a few months old. Recently the one model 15 track on it has gone wonky - around bar 16-17 it's like the cutoff gets automated - I can see the knob move in m15! I've tried everything I can think of to get rid of that automated cutoff but nothing... deleted the midi and then undo. I even tried recreating those midi notes on another Alchemy synth and then deleting the model 15 and re-adding a new m15 and moving the midi from Alchemy track to the m15 - but it comes back! (The weird automation) always at the same place. Tried moving the midi to a later bar - another section. Nothing
Anyone see anything like that? I'd love to salvage that m15 track if there's any way!

@Halftone - Perhaps you said it already, but did you copy the track? Perhaps there is only a bug in the track, and by copying it it might solve the problem (and mute the original track. and of course copy the midi content to the copy).
Another idea: I sometimes have volume issues with GB, and by simply closing the project and then open it again it is solved (but this probably won't help cause I guess you did that already).
Another idea: if nothing solves the problem, you can consider recording Model 15 as audio into GB (or only the particular region where the problem appears).
I also do not completely understand what happens exactly: does the volume drops to zero and does it stay there, or does it return to normal level? What happens when you delete the note (or notes) where the volume drop/automation seems to happen? (as a test to get more insight in the problem: insight in: is the weird automation in the notes as midi messages or in the track?) ( of course make a copy first of the original midi content and put it in a copied track or in a new section of the same track).
If a copied track behaves the same, is the weird automation still there when you use another AU thing? - I haven't much experience with your workflow, but it seems a logical test to me. If not: perhaps it is a Model 15 bug?
I hope it does make sense what I wrote, I haven't much knowledge about midi, my brain never completely grasps it, even though I understand what it is, so if my ideas are a bit stupid it is due to that not completely understanding it. On the other hand, the above might help, good luck.
@Marcel Not a volume issue - the cutoff knob in model 15 is somehow automated - at bar 17 it dips down to zero for a half bar - then moves up and down over a couple bars then back down to zero. I tried recording the output into my iPad - trying to override the cutoff by moving the knob while recording - but the automation takes over and I couldn't get a good take.
Last night I ended up deleting the m15 track altogether - adding a new one and loading same preset then rerecirding the notes live. This worked. But a very strange bug for sure.
Oh - and noticed when the Optimising Perfirmance message was on screen - as it rendered and got to bar 17 I could see a "!" Icon in m15 window if I had the interface open at the time.
It's situations like this that make me wish GarageBand had some kind of editing of the recorded automation data.
It would be so easy to adjust the value jumps...
True - but shouldn't have been able to even record automation on m15 in the first case. How did it get there?
Good question!
I can't record any Model 15 AUv3 automation in Garageband.
And when Model 15 is loaded as IAA it only outputs audio...
SPOOOOKY!!!!!
Maybe check Model15 for active midi connections. Maybe the Midi connection to Model15 somehow got altered, or maybe picking up CC from Virtual Midi or somewhere else. If you can’t record automation to it in Garage Band, it seems likely that the automation is coming from another app, maybe only during live playback and not recorded anywhere.
