iRig blueboard in MIDI Mode 2 - backlighting the LEDs possible?
I know some of you have a Blueboard. Do you know if it is possible to light the LED backlights in Mode 2? When I configure the device to run in their proprietary mode I can set the backlight brightness but as soon as I enable Mode 2 so I can run Loopy and Quantiloop the pedals no longer light up, even when pressed, nor are they backlit... which could be a problem on a dark stage!

Hey fprintf. The light on my Blueboard stays lit so long as I have the Footswitch Backlight set to ON. This works both in Program Change and in CTRL Change modes on my Blueboard.
No, I could never figure out a way. Frustrating! One of many things that drove me back to a hardware rig.
Thanks for the reply Howard. Is this in Mode 2 that you are describing this or in Blueboard mode, that is the way it comes out of the box? I have no problems with the LEDs in that mode only in the direct-to-MIDI mode not using the Blueboard app itself as a connector.
Thanks Matthew, it is as I suspect an unavailable feature unless you use their app to connect. So strange that it should become disabled just by going into mode 2! I spent a few hours last night and my Google-Fu failed me before coming to this forum. I did find a few dead ends on the IKMultimedia website but otherwise zip.
I see the problem. I was not aware of Mode 2 which comes with firmware version 1.2. In that mode each pedal acts as a momentary pedal sending one value when pressed and back to zero when released. I agree that it doesn't make sense that you should lose the backlight. You should open a ticket with IK Multimedia so they can perhaps fix it in a future firmware update.
In the meantime couldn't you use the Blueboard in PC mode? I know Loopy can be programmed to respond to PC messages but I see Quantiloop wants CC messages so you could perhaps use something like Midiflow to convert the PC Messages to CC messages. I would also change the midi channel in Midiflow so that nothing goes directly to your looping apps to ensure these messages don't go directly to your apps without being re-routed. You would need to make sure that your assignments don't overlap so that Loopy responds to different ones that Quantiloop. It takes some organization but I think it can be done.
Midifire can be set to filter out specific PC messages as well so you can be sure that only specific messages go to Loopy and others to Quantiloop but that is a little more complicated to program.
I can definitely use the Blueboard in PC mode, but something about requiring I launch an extra app just to connect the Blueboard seems rather silly. Maybe I'm mistaken whether PC mode can be used independently.
I did put in a ticket with IK Multimedia a few weeks ago when I figured out this was a problem but the only response thus far is from someone saying they'd passed it along to a technical team for research.
I think a lot can be done with this little bluetooth pedalboard. For now, I'm living with it the way it is. Thanks for the replies!
