We’ve been enjoying Volcano, sparingly, for some time. Like all FF stuff, even cloth-ears like mine can hear the difference. Costs more than standard, but then the effects on offer are are way above standard.

  • The only problem with these outstanding effects is not getting nearly as much out of them as they offer; this helps :)

  • Very cool - thanks posting that. I'd never thought of using it as a live effect while playing, makes the plugin far more interesting and useful. Like having a mega filter on your synth.

  • Thanks, this is very cool! I find Volcano, Timeless, and Saturn to be almost bottomless pools of possibility, to the point of being a bit intimidating. In addition to Doug's cool observations, the tutorial videos found on the FabFilter site are incredibly well done and valuable. For some strange reason there isn't a Volcano-specific tutorial on the site, but since the plugins share so many controls and concepts, the Timeless, Saturn, and sound design tutorials can really help in revealing the power of Volcano. https://www.fabfilter.com/video/

And I agree strapping Volcano onto any synth can radically expand the range of possible sounds!

  • I use Auria as one big Synth and Volcano is just part of that.

Hmmmm...that’s a good idea. I’ll have to expand my FF collection at the next sale. Haven’t got Volcano or Saturn.

  • I never knew about all those videos... Thanks!!!

Lots of good stuff about EQing in particular on the FabFilter YT channel ...

Yep they both are great except maybe a bit small on the controls, but I make sounds with them and then sample them to BM3

  • I love Volcano, it can do anything from subtle to insane
