MacBook not recognizing iPad Air2?
The battery is really shot in Air2.
The MacBookPro is brand new.
Is this a common issue for anyone?
How to overcome it? Besides turning off and on.
Comments
Are you sure it is not something with the lightning connector, no charge AND not recognised by Macbook ?
Have you tried cleaning it ?
No
Clean it?
With what?
Need more info. Are you trying to use iDAM? I think you have to open Audio/Midi setup to get that going
Have you tried?
Hard restart of iPad
Different lightning cable
Different USB port on computer
Which OS on computer and which iOS on iPad?
Just using USB to move files around(sandbox)
Yes.
I have tried multiple iOS devices, cables, restarts, iOS 10 and 11.
Is the MacBook able to recognize anything plugged into USB at all? Other devices?
If not I would say the MacBook is having issues. If the MacBook can see other devices and not the iPad then the iPad is having problems.
The MacBook not recognizing anything.
Think delete iTunes and reinstall?
What other settings could be off?
Could iFunbox caused an issue me?
What would you do ?
Thanks so much
It sounds like the USB ports are not working on the MacBook so I'm not sure reinstalling iTunes is going to do anything.
Google "MacBook reset SMC" .If you can do that with your MacBook try it, it might do something. Not sure if newer models of MacBook can do this.
Looks like you may be onto something mac related, but in case, just check there is no crap in there, lint/fluff a cocktail stick should do it.
I reset the Ram and some other stuff.
I can't get it to un mount from hard drive for first aid.
So, probably need a clean install of High Sierra.
Gotta grab external - back up - clean re install.
Or just wipe it all.
Some shit I wouldn't mind clearing out.
I got it to recognize but the mounting issue dealing with sound is a problem otherwise.
DId all resets and it works but ....well read last post.
Thanks again for your help.
Well, it worked one time.
Post reset.
Back to not recognizing.
Anyone have any other suggestions before I get an external drive and have to reinstall everything why iOS devices not getting recognized by MacBook?
All hardware is fine wires restarts have been done.
CAN iFUNBOX cause issue with iTunes recognition potentially of ios devices?
iFunbox is the only thing that ever caused a problem with MacBook (iTunes) as far as I remember.
Since I only had it a couple months this is super frustrating to spend thousands and not having issues with such a basic function of the MacBook.
Yeah
Not to be a dick but read the other posts
I did get it to work after a reset but there is some audio/sound issue and I can't dismount the hard drive to fix so there is an issue.
BUT, it did work after reset of RAM.
One other thing I did, I forget.
So, yes, all things check.
Please stay in touch because this may be a bigger Apple issue.
Question, iFUNBOX, do you use it?
I think your MacBooks USB ports aren't working. It seems to be a hardware issue. No amount of resets or reinstall will fix that. Take it to the Mac store. If it's still in warranty they will fix/replace it.
Thank you!
Best Buy here we come.
Way too much money for this crap.
I am so disgusted.
I really am.
Any Apple nerds have any input to give me any ideas?
Why iOS devices are not being detected but an old iPod 30 pin does?
Why is iOS a problem?
Could Novation circuit cross something up?
iFunbox issues?
iTunes?
MacBook broke?
Wow
I appreciate this
I need to take a moment sit down and carefully do this.
Upon doing so I will let you know.
Thanks Max
This is actually good advice.
So do what you recommend with iPad plugged in?
What is this actually doing?
Thanks so much
Here is what is bizarre to me.
The USB port recognizes the USB from the 30 pin converter and the old iPod connected to it.
So, why would the iOS devices not be recognized?
Any of them regardless of cable, iOS 10 11, Air 1, Air 2?
I can't see why an iOS device would do this only?
Does it give you any clues to the issue at hand?
A particular setting that the lightning is sensitive to?
I don't know at this point
Are you using a known working Apple lightning cable for the iPad? If your Mac USB ports recognize other things like flash drives then it has to be the iPad or the cable. Borrow a known working cable from someone that you know 100% for sure works and try it.
So even if it charges and can be used with audio interface it may have an issue unrelated?
I think I tried multiple ones, but, at this point I will try anything.
I think the issue is with some audio thing DEEP inside the Mac that didn't allow hard rive to dismount for first aid.
HAS ANYONE HEARD OF MAYBE THE INSTALL OF HIGH SIERRA MAY BE BUNK AND I SHOULD DELETE AND FRESH INSTALL?
At that point, I want a new one to be honest.
I am not wanting to buy and external drive to do all this for a couple month old $2000 computer.
ya know.
Big investment for me
