@MrNezumi "I have zero regret about plopping out $20 for it"

I'm sure you meant either "plopping down" or "shelling out", unless you are in the habit of defecating currency ;)

  • I played with it for a few minutes yesterday and I really enjoyed it. I was getting great sounds out of it pretty much instantly, which is something I never experienced with a Line 6 product or even the JamUp app.

  • The videos and sound samples look fantastic, and i have a Line 6 Sonic Port so i'm excited about the possibilities but i'm not going to move to iOS 7 anytime soon so this is a no-go.

I like Bias and look forward to playing around with it but it pegs the cpu meter on my iPad 3 with Audiobus and Cubasis running. Playing along with a five track, audio only song in Cubasis produced pops and a couple skips. Hopefully Positive Grid can reduce the cpu usage in an upcoming update or I'll have to wait until I eventually upgrade to an iPad 4 before I can actually use it. I cleared all my background apps out and did a hard reset. Bias + Audiobus + Cubasis still pegged the cpu meter when I restarted.

  • ouch! I have an ipad mini and auria. Anybody know the cpu usage on that with bias?

  • Anyone know if Positive Grid plans to offer BIAS inside of Auria? And more particularly, if they plan to make it work automagically in Auria if you already own it as a stand alone app (like Turnado and unlike JamUp so far)?

  • @Evangelos ...your t-shirt is backwards...does that make you left handed? :)

Ok just plunked down to get both Bias and Jamup to use in Auria and it's def a cool app with tweakable tones. @syrupcore - you can use bias with auria via IAA. But the problem I'm having is I've got two guitar tracks that if like to use bias on. I'm also on an ipad mini. So after I've found the tone I like for one, I freeze it then go to my other guitar track. But once I try to stick in bias, all the sounds cut out and I'm not even seeing levels anymore for the 2nd track I was trying to add bias to. I tried shutting down both apps but it happens again. Don't know if this is a bias thing or IAA thing. Perhaps I should just create the amp I want and use Jamup to apply the tones I want that way as opposed going thru Bias directly.

On a related note, does this mean we never have to change our guitar strings again since it's the sound is just going to be processed anyways?

EDIT: Just realized you can't use bias amps within Jamup in Auria so if you need to use delay or other Jamup fx, you need to use both bias in iaa and Jamup which sucks for me as I'm on a mini and getting CPU overload for having both those apps open.

UPDATE: Running auria on mini, bias does not seem to play nice when I've got other tracks with fx on em. I've got turnado on track 1 and when I go stick bias on track 2, kills all the sounds. Rim is looking into it but just a heads up for other auria users

  • Bias does not like going into jamup pro on my ipad 2. It'll work eventually but lots of resets and such.

  • @syrupcore I wrote Positive Grid and specifically asked that question. I got no response. And I've gotten lots of responses from them on other topics. I felt like that was an answer of sorts.

I was waiting until today to get Bias. @Bootsy, your comment is giving me pause...is it a resource thing you think?

  • I haven't had a problem with it appearing in JamUp on a mini.

  • First glimpse at how I modded a Marshall 800 to create my custom Copperhead amp in Positive Grid's BIAS app...it's about 14 minutes but worth it..and has some tasty chops in there as well :)

  • @boone51 it's working better today, I still get lots of snaps and pops when I move knobs and switch between bias and jamup. But it didn't freak out today and go into an endless delay loop! I do suspect it's because of the ipad 2

  • OK, purchasing right now. I'm going to be upgrading my iPad some time in the coming month, but still hoping I can play with this awesomeness immediately as well. Thanks @Bootsy & @funjunkie27

Just got this from Rim. For us Auria users, lets hope Positive Grid make it possible to stick into Jamup as for right now, can only use it on one track.

"You can only use one IAA app at a time in Auria. This is unfortunately a limitation in the way IAA works. So in other words, you can only use one BIAS in your project at any one time. You can have several IAAs at the same time in one project, but they can't be the same kind of IAA. Auria native plugins don't have this limitation.

But it shouldn't be cutting the audio out like you describe. We'll look into this on our end.

    Rim"

    I love that man

  • But wait... after you've recorded on the one track, can't you remove that effect and then reuse it on another track? I thought that was the suggested work around for the single IAA issue. I haven't tried it myself, so I'm genuinely just asking.

Yeah you could do that. But part of the reason I personally bought Jamup and bias was the convenience of being able to have say 5 guitar tracks and experimenting with diff amp sounds in the mix to see which ones I liked. I might be mistaken but I believe you can do this with both Positive Grid and Overloud plugins for desktop. You might have a killer guitar tone but if it doesn't blend well with your rhythm guitar's tone and amp selection and the 2nd lead or whatever, it'd be very convenient to just change the amps/tubes for the various tracks as opposed to having to record it all over with the new bias settings. For me at least

  • I see, that makes sense. I can see where that would be a big plus. I just sort of accept the box. I record it. If it sounds bad later, I record it again. (hint, it always sounds bad later). I like you're idea better.

Haha it's an old debate whether a band/artist just practices and commits it to tape (sorta speak) or whether to fix it in the mix. I used to be more with the first group where one should get a good sound upfront and record it the way it is with little to no processing afterwards but then wouldn't that defeat most of the reasons for using technology in the first place? MIDI being the obvious example. So yeah, I want options and convenience if it helps me stay creative plus if I just happen to be jamming and come up with a cool idea that has that "feel"

UPDATE: For Auria users - in case you didn't know, if you buy any of the additional amps in Jamup like Expansion pack, you can't use it with native Jamup plugin.

  • My sincere thanks to those of you who found my video interesting and helpful .
    @SpookyZoo Yes i am a proud lefty ! :)
i still don't know why the cam in the Photo booth in my Mac made me a right handed player :P

  • ... The horror ...

  • Alright PieterrVos, it's time to put your money where your mouth is. Would LOVE to see a vid of your playing.

  • I'd prefer to see him banned from the forum.

  • As would I...done nothing but stir things up and make ignorant comments...nothing constructive even after we all tried to give him a chance a while back

  • @mmp iFretless apps are waiting for review from apple on an update that fixes the audiobus support problems in iOS 7.

  • @SirHans Thanks!

However, I'm curious: the problem I described earlier in this thread was with BIAS, not iFretless...and has since been fixed by Positive Grid. (no sound until guitar or headphones plugged in)
But...if you mean another issue, which I forgot to mention then, with the Audiobus panel being unresponsive, now having been fixed, that would be great as well!
