@Beathoven Yes, it’s very very rare we even see snow, this is extreme indeed, Watson thinks it’s great though :D

    What a happy dog!
Of course, as an American Northerner, I hate to break it to you, but if you can still see green on the ground, it wasn't a snowstorm. ;)

‘Tis in Cornwall. It’s in the far south west of England, at the end of a peninsula which sticks right out into the Atlantic, an area usually bathed in warm air from the jet stream. They see a snow flake about once every 25 years.

Definitely need to hear more for me - want to hear some smoother creamy type stuff or gentle swelling pads to judge if it would be useful to me.

    There you go

Cheers for that, those kind of sounds are much more to my taste and now I am interested. Some really nice textures and movement to some of the sounds.

Why does this synth sound so different from others on ios? What is it doing differently?

Yes, its looks fantastic and sounds wonderful but does it make a good COW BELL? Cause I need MORE COW BELL.

I’m sorry, this is getting out of hand, I will stop.

  • @RUST( i )K I’ve been beta testing this beast for a few months now, agreed it’s pretty fab. I take it Kai Aras the developer happy now for you to let the cat out the bag and show his great creation.?Hopefully it will hit the streets soon. I’ve had a video in the bag for a while waiting to show.

No but it does barnyard sounds.

My favorite is "squeal like a pig"

I hope your getting to include some of your presets in the release (maybe even the "squeal like a pig" one) LOL. I love it, I can hardly wait.

  • Hey everyone,

VOLT dev here - glad to see so much interest in this little synth.

This wasn't supposed to go public just yet but since MR. @RUST( i )K here took the liberty to do the unveiling - cough - ;) let me weigh in and share some info.

Does VOLT allow the oscillator pulse width to be modulated by an envelope?

    It does indeed.

I'll be sharing more details soon but here are the basics:

    • VA Poly Synth (up to 8/16 voices depending on device)
    • Standalone, AUv3, IAA, AB, MIDI, Link all on board
    • MPE support (including MPE capable onscreen keyboard)
    • 3x Stereo FX units (Chorus, Delay, Epic Reverb)
    • Universal (although iPad only at launch)

That's it for now, I'll be back soon.

  • edited March 2018

    NDA oops Rustik is roastik.

I am looking forward to this one for sure. Italizer is one of my favorite synths, it sounds so amazing and is so fun to play. Your apps are rock solid and are amongst the best regarding sound quality and UI design. I look forward to any music apps you might cook up in the future. B)

    That's cool!

I guess the modulation amount can go in both positive and negative directions and an option to use uni/bi-polar modulation?(Pretty essential feature to keep square wave modulated pitch in tune with the root note).

Being 'stuck in the 80s' a note repeat option for the arpeggiator would be a nice bonus.

Is VOLT primarily a '1 osc'(with sub) synth or is there a 2nd oscillator hiding somewhere for sync, ringmod & fm/xmod sounds?

Regardless, I do like the sounds in the demoes so it will be a very welcome addition to my iOS tool-arsenal :)

Looking forward to more details leaking before it gets released :)
(Hopefully it will work nicely with BM3 too).

  • O.k. i listened to Doug´s demo and i heard some nice sounds out of it. It´s not "outstanding" but the low end and mid-range sounds really clear and beefy. The higher registers seems to be a bit harsh (maybe it was just the used sounds).
I was happy to hear a reverb included which seems a bit better than the average iOS synths included FX (still TF8 has the best one).
The MPE stuff is great so far.
It´s hard to judge. It has it´s own character like many synths but i would really need to hear some overdriven filter resonance and especially a lot more about the really high frequencies.
It might be somewhere between Zeeon, Model 15, DRC and Sunrizer while this synth seems to sound a bit more digital rather than analog.
Sorry if that sounds like a critic but in general i think this will be a very good synth for iOS......but it has a lot of good competition of course too. What sets it apart might be the MPE stuff (release velocity included too?).
As usual i´m searching still for more (universal) iOS synths with microtuning........
I hope things go well for the developers. Really nice performer synth.

It sound more analog than many I swear.

The fact that the modulation and effects are such a high quality as opposed to some others actually increases the value even more so.

Did you try Design By Paul's POLY synth?

    He has micro tuning believe.

You have Dhalang I suppose? I have both iOS and for Mac, it is a joy.

Right, good call! Env mod amount is indeed bipolar for that exact reason. LFO amount is uni polar but all waves are bi-polar expect for the triangle which also is uni.

Being 'stuck in the 80s' a note repeat option for the arpeggiator would be a nice bonus.

Heh, that one is actually still on my list. At the moment the ARP does the usual UP/DOWN/UPDOWN/RND & SEQ
I can't promise it for launch but the ARP will most definitely get some more attention.

Is VOLT primarily a '1 osc'(with sub) synth or is there a 2nd oscillator hiding somewhere for sync, ringmod & fm/xmod sounds?

Well, to answer your question first, yes, it is a single osc and overall very basic in it's voice structure (for good reason but more on that another day). That said, there are lots of little things to make up for it's simplicity without complicating things too much which really was the main goal here, to come back to your original question you can do FM by setting the LFO to track the Sub, Sync and Ringmod are about the only two things it indeed cannot.

Looking forward to more details leaking before it gets released :)
(Hopefully it will work nicely with BM3 too).

I'll be sharing more as I find the time to post. Hoping to have some more sound samples and maybe a block diagram up in the coming days.
