im not sure how much sense the dry/wet knob makes when you mess with the sustain?
I get the attack part and the ny compression thing ...
I wonder if ppl actually do this with transient shapers?

Sorry for late reply, I thought that adding the dry/wet knob could provide more "versatility" to the fx. Don't know... let say you have a great set of settings, you could automate the dry/wet knob slightly (or not) to give some randomness or even put it hard on chorus (I mean musical srtucture) and then a bit more discrete in verse part :)

Some may maybe complains about why I've chosen to add more than the very classic attack/sustain depth control. But when I design an effect, I try to design it for me first (a bit selfish yes) and so if I like it, if I see potential then I keep it.

Due to the way I've organized my dev process, I always start by the OSX version. So having the plugin fully fonctional in LPX, there I make a lot of experiments, tests and choice regarding various setup.

I try to innovate and provide at least something different but it's not easy :)

  • Sounds so good, and a welcomed addition to the iOS music-making universe! @FredAntonCorvest have you thought about a bundle with Chorus/Maxima/Transient? I have a couple of friends who have been reluctant to dive into iOS musicking because they (rightly) pointed out that key stuff like transient shapers have been missing up to now. A bundle might make it easier for folks making the plunge?

Anyway, thanks a ton for another killer app!

  • Fred seems busy working his wonders. So, anyone out there, how does this app ‘do’ with multiple instruments in a mix? Does that work well, or is it best with individual instruments?

Individual instruments. Otherwise youre just gonna get a pumping effect on anything with drums

Okay, Oat-Phipps, thanks for making that clear. :)

  • Guys if I have an old stereo recording that I did where I added to much Reverb to the vocals on a mix down can I fix it some how with this app?

  • Scrolling over the thread, reading your positive messages - whoooo thx guys instant motivation! :D

Thank you all of you for your great support !

Damn! This is going to be soooo useful. I just loaded up a bunch of muddy old break beat loops and proceeded to utterly kill the character and vibe of the originals, turning them into punchy, clean, mundane modern pop schmutz.

Oh wait ... not such a good use case. :D

But damn! This is going to be useful beyond belief in more sensible efforts than destroying classic vibe. For someone who has tried in vain to become good with compression and only ends up doing more harm than good in most cases, this is targeted idiot-proof goodness. Love it!!

@FredAntonCorvest has fast become a developer like @brambos & @Chris_Randall (Audio Damage) that’s making must buy apps at a startling pace. The hype isn’t just appoholic hyperbole, the last FAC app Maxima was incredible, filling a huge void & this one is in the same league. Transient designers are seen in the tool boxes of a lot of modern EDM producers but I’ve heard great things about them for all genres, so I bought mine & am looking forward to experimenting with it. Thanks FAC

I was playing with it last night and I love it! When I first started making music like 6/7 years ago, I used Transient Master from NI all the time. I was pretty upset that there was not an equivalent when I switched over to IOS. Now I have FAC Transient

My release note worth to mention:

The iOS market is growing every day and already provides so many possibilities for music production. There are wonderful daws, synths and great fxs but something as essential as a universal AuV3 transient designer was strangely missing to complete the musician’s arsenal.
Fred Anton Corvest, producing first-class virtual effects like FAC Chorus and FAC Maxima since 2017, takes up the challenge and is proud to release today FAC Transient to the iOS musician community.

FAC Transient, as is suggested by the name, is an outstanding dynamics processor providing precise design and control of the attack and sustain stages of your instruments. It includes, in addition to the classic amplification or attenuation of the attack and sustain portion of your instrument, a fine control of the detection circuit involved in the processing.

Without going into technical details, there are three envelopes built from their respective detection circuits. The first one is the contour of the input signal, this includes similar processing available in FAC Maxima and brings you control of the threshold, time and detector algorithm. The second and third one define the contour of the attack and sustain portions and brings you a total control of the depth and duration of each stage.

FAC Transient gives you all you need to design the shape of your instruments and provides them the place they deserve in your mix.

FAC Transient is an AuV3 requiring iOS 10.0 or later. Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.

Thx all for your great support!

    Thx for you!
I have fxpansion Transient shaper (in Auria) and now I can say that FAC Transient is the best and more useful shaper in iOS !

  • It does wonderfully weird things to cymbals, too. May not be the intended use, but I like it.

Fred. Is this a good match for working on tracks that are already mixtures of instruments, or is it mainly intended for use per instrument?

You will get best result per instrument for sure! But I advice you to make experiment, and if it sounds right keep it :)

Depending of your vocals and the type of reverb you may be able to tame the tail of the reverb. Once again you have to experiment. I remember a similar test I've done and I used -> "kill the room preset" as starting point :)

To be honest, I have not idea about the bundle :s No idea about how much you can spare, not sure if it makes sense to put all in the same... FAC Maxima and FAC Transient goes together, I mean dynamic processor but FAC Chorus is in another category so... :s

This is the spirit !! :D Great illustration for the following quotes :)

...Of course, you know that FAC takes pride in ensuring versatility in its product line, providing subtle to drastic changes. FAC Transient is no exception to the rule!...

I can’t wait to try this out on acoustic guitar. It’s going to be just what the doctor ordered, I think.

Have you tried it with your acoustic guitar? I find it so hard to get a good (actually looking for a great) tone, plugging in my acoustic. I’d rather not mic it.

Not yet but I expect terrific results. This is exactly the type of control needed to get the desired punchiness or mellowness I think.

I doubt you'll get great results ever just plugging in. There are some really high-end pickups out there, but the only thing that comes close to good micing are the ones that have a condenser microphone built-in. Dynamics, such as what this app address are the least of the problem. First is the piezo-electric sound that is all-but unavoidable. Second is the loss, without a microphone, of the results of interaction of the sound and air with the guitar body. Acoustic simulators such as those in ToneStack can, with a lot of tweaking, overcome a lot of that, but with what I would call "acceptable", not "great" results.

  • Guys! May I also suggest you to not forget to rate and review the app on App Store please ?
Thank you very much ! :D

I already purchased it and Fred was nice enough to give a promo code away to pre-order buyers, so I have an extra.
So if you want it, PM Fred, and he will hook you up!!

Thanks :) Yes it's so useful for shaping drums, other things too I'm sure but that's what I tried it on so far.

  • Know issue:
There is an issue if the current preset is set via the preset manager provided with FAC apps the app will hang and freeze. This has already been discussed with Cubasis team and they will provide a fix soon.

    Workaround:
I can not hide the preset manager because as AuV3 plugin I do not receive the info that I'm in Cubasis.
So please, Cubasis users, use the preset organiser provided within Cubasis and do not use the one provided with FAC apps :)

  • This is very nice actually, and really useful.

Just run a whacky ElasticDrums patch through Discord4. All great, but there was a lot of 'tail and echo' on the mix, and so adding other instruments meant the whole thing sounded messy.

The Transient plugin meant I could get rid of that, crop it down to a punchier sound which worked better in the mix, but still retain the main effect I wanted with Discord4.

    I'll use this a lot.

This is very strange, I've done the same and no problem at all.

    1. Close everything - reboot (don't think is necessary)
    2. Open the main app (not in a host), on the widget(rack) do you have v1.0.1?
    3. Launch Garage Band check if you can use the AuV3 on a new project
    4. Launch BM3 check if you can use the AuV3 on a new project
  • In new projects AuV3 works fine
But now I can’t load all old projects

  • @Denzkps said:

Don't know if its related to the plugs or the host, I'm not looking for responsibility but do you get a particular message or the project is hanging? If you can open you project but it does not work maybe you could try to remove the fx and add it again? Very sorry to read about your issue but I've no more idea :(

Despite that, hope you enjoy FAC Transient and you will have a lot of fun ! :)

  • In Auria I can’t load projects
In BM3 I can load projects but after it I can’t make anything and also can’t delete plugin (
I can update iOS to 11.2.6 but I don’t sure that it will help
