Thanks.
Can you Midi the ‘touch pad behaviour’ - that would be awesome if you could.
Maybe in a future update but right now only what BlueGreenSpiral stated above is MIDI lean
Whilst talking about the app store purchasing quirks, whatever happened to the tempting ‘complete my bundle’ option? The recent audio damage bundle lacks this option also.
Audio Damage can now do a bundle - just happened recently - I think since the release of Dischord4 a week or so ago...
and I just checked for Elastic and see a bundle for Elastic Drums and Elastic FX - $16.99 Canadian for the pair.
thanks for the Repater effect @elasticdrums !
One question though, what do mean the x and y parameters, they're both labeled as 'repeat'?
@ttk
Repeater has no second parameter, there are basically 3 fields in the top half and 3 fields in the bottom have that do determine the repeating function. Also Repeater is made to work with touchMode only basically
OK, I've played around with the app those days, and for what it's worth, here is my feedback:
The repeater effect is effective, good accuracy when the app is used as IAA (in my case, hosted in AUM).
However, a big drawback would be its usability from an ergonomic point of view: the 'repeat' parameter isn't linear, so it isn't easy to do a simple progression of repeats like 1bar->1/2->1/4->1/8,...
@elasticdrums , do you think you could simply fix this by mapping the 'repeat' parameter to just one control for the next update?
I‘ll wait until it gets more MIDI love. Too much going on here to fiddle with the touchscreen for my would-be go-to fx unit.
How's the pitch shift compared to tonestack or harmony eight? Is it poly?
As already say the repeater effect is a bit different than all the other effects. The idea was to have it non linear working on purpose. But maybe it's too confusing a bit, I'll have a think about it and maybe change to linear, yes
What else would you like to get MIDI-fied?
I think a XY Pad is much better to fiddle around with 2 parameters than any MIDI controller ...
Here is a new video, by the way
So no poly pitch shift?
Sorry not trying to be a jerk. I'm being one track here and your app looks amazing! I'm a huge fan of elastic drums and you guys make quality software I respect a lot.
I'm just on a mission for a good real-time poly pitch shift and so far tonestack is the best I can find on ios that's real time. Harmony eight is fast but the poly setting sounds like a chorus pedal. Audiostretch sounds beautiful but it's not a real time effect
Might be barking up the wrong thread
There are some nice pitch shifters in EFX, which are heaps of fun to play with, but no poly one.
Elastic FX is a multi effect app with 40 different rather "simple" effects and no Pitch Shift specialist.
But I bet there is an app existing specialized for Pitch Shifting
It may, depending on the whole scenary. I would rather use a joystick or dedicated touchpad for this. It’s not like yours is the one only app one would use say in a live situation. There may also be another looper, synth or mixer app upfront.. Basically, all what can be done on the screen while tweaking sounds should be MIDIfied too.
Only two tweakable parameters per effect?
What about delay, usually one is setting up time, feedback, mix as the very least?
Would dedicate anothe phone probably.
Must be able to send CC on patch recall from the app.
You can recall patches via Program Change?
I’d like to be able to trigger the ‘KP2 style’ touch mode via midi. Right now it doesn’t appear this is possible.
But I like the app. Thanks.
Great app. I just want the recorded parameter loops to be longer, or maybe a toggle to play them out of sync with one another. You know, for science!
I think this was in the early beta version, was disappointed when it disappeared. I'm about 88% sure this wasn't a dream.
Elastic FX update 1.2 just got released !!
Here is a video, I did with my guitar, showing some of the new features:
https://youtu.be/Xv5yOTricYY
Here is the complete list:
- Added Audioshare Export/Import
- "Open In" works from other apps now also
- Possibility to quickly record audio in Audiofiles overlay
- Added Midi Bluetooth search
- New Big Reverb
- New Overdrive & Distortion effect
- New preamp section consisting of:
- New Noise Gate / Compressor
- New Tuner
- Debugged Background Audio option
- Bugfixes and improvements
Thanks a lot for all the great feedback from my beta tester in the last 2 weeks. You really ROCK
Neat update and shoes!
Auv3 would make it more useful, but I still use it all the time! Big fan of the devs other app, ElasticDrums, as well.
Haha, thanks 😂
I have tried to stop myself buying any more audio apps that aren't auv3. I have enough apps to be honest (and simultaneously nowhere near enough) so it makes it easy to channel GAS in a more focussed way.
But I don't think all apps are suitable for straight auv3 updates and I'm not sure I'd want Elastic Fx as an auv3 as it is. Rather than have 4 channels in one plug-in that's clearly designed to be used 'hands on', I'd be happy with simpler single channel plug-ins. You could use the sends in the DAW, or hosts like AUM to make your own routing however you like and the DAW could take care of recording parameter automation. The stand alone app is clearly designed for a different workflow than you'd want if it was an auv3.
But when you can have multiple instances you don't need the complexity the stand alone app requires.
Just a thought. :-)
@elasticdrums pleased to see this updated, thanks for your hard work.
What Johnny said. 👆️ Thanks, OG. I don't take regular updates and new features for granted.
Doubly amplified. [Meryl Streep forcefully clapping gif here.]
I have recently created a Quneo Template that combines the dedicated midi controls for ElasticFX and ElasticDrums into one Quneo controller Template. I used it live on stream last night. It basically allows you to use an iPhone, a Quneo, and the Elastic Bundle to create a fully Functioning drum machine with fx.
I have created the required documentation and will hopefully be posting it on the AudioBus Forum today.
Thanks for the update and new features!
Thanks, @DR_M. As the owner of an underused Quneo, I'll enjoy checking that out.
With all the new AB midi features, I should really get more on this anyway.
Any option for a faint grid for some apps like repeater?
Also, it would be nice to be able to ‘touch’ more than one effect at once.
" I'm not sure I'd want Elastic Fx as an auv3 as it is"
--> that makes no sense imho, even though every second is asking for it. Elastic FX is rather a "standalone app" than a "plugin" effect and I don't know if the automation features, which is what makes Elastic FX different from all other effect apps, would even work as AUv3! It would at least feel pretty differently.
Apart from the fact, that there are zillions of great AUv3 effects already. What makes Elastic FX different, is that it HAS 4 channels, and that you can automate these 4 effects and store all of this in the app itself. This would not be possible to do, if Elastic FX would be an AUv3 unit. Maybe I am wrong, but ideally you would store the app presets AND the automations in the host app, therefore it would work completely different, if not to say it would not work at all !!
Can you store automation data in AUM? I don't think so. Can you store automation data in Cubasis? Maybe, if an AUv3 fx unit gives out automation data as midi controller data to Cubasis. But then the automation data is stored in Cubasis, and not in the effect app itself. The automations are bound to that one Cubasis session and "lost" for other DAW's
