Looking for a Decent iphone 6 DAW... Help me out
I need a simple iphone daw with the following features, preferably under &15
1.) IAA midi in/out support. Sending midi to other apps or audiobus.
2.) Setting midi channels to each instrument so I can assign tracks to different parts of my akai mpk mini controller, like having drums on the pads and synth on the keys.
3.) Some type of drum looper/sequencer for beats.
Multi track recording is a plus too. I'd like to be able to loop and overdub beats while playing IAA supported synths. I use poison 202 a lot. Garageband was ok but lacked any midi channel features. I ended up buying FL studio mobile but was really frustrated because it's IAA and audiobus support is quite broken right now. I actually love the app's interface and features but it just doesn't work. The ironic part is FL studio mobile literally has every feature I listed too..
My other pick aside from FL studio mobile was multitrack daw. Could use some feedback before I make another purchase. Feel like I wasted my money on flsm

BeatMaker2 works on iphone but I heard BM3 for phone is in development.
Must be iphone supported.
I don't actually see it on the iphone app store.
Less expensive than fl studio mobile... about the same install size, better reviews. Looking promising. See everytime i'd search beatmaker that "beatmaker go!" app would come up. I had to put the 2 in there. I think this is the app i'll try. Hopefully I can get a refund for FL
Looks awesome.
Beta’s and FLSM aside, BM2 is a great recommendation- and an amazing bargain for $10. Very sold and stable, and does what you’re looking for.
I like FLSM a lot but I use the onboard instruments pretty exclusively, although I have and love scores of IAA instruments, I find the sound possibilities inside the app immense, so the IAA issues don’t come into play
AEM has been in beta for iPhone for a long time, I was on the beta for a few months but was removed (my bad), I’m not sure how close the dev is to a release, there were lots of issues getting sorted.
Bus should be here in four minutes. Will call when I get to SODO. LOVE YOU!
Genuinely curious about FLSM: how many IAPs does it take for the sound possibilities to feel immense? How much am I gonna be throwing down here?
The stock stuff is pretty powerful, given the “rack” approach: stack a couple sample based DirectWave voices (which can be built from a user sample) with a Minisynth or two, with FX and you’re in business... the IAPs are real real cool but you can get quite a ways without
FL studio mobile is incredible but like I said if you're planning on using any IAA supported apps look away because it's broken since last summer. The only reason i'm not requesting a refund is in case they decide to patch it in the next 10 years.
Yep. IAA broken. (When inside the app I don’t miss it)
I know this doesn't meet your requirements for MIDI out, but I used Gadget on my iPhone 6 (and now on my iPhone 8) and created several tracks. I don't think the iPhone6 has enough CPU power to go crazy with AUs or anything - it struggled in Gadget once I added in more than one instance of MonoPoly sometimes alongside 8 or so other "lesser" instruments. You can easily set your MIDI controller to use different channels (16) in Gadget.
You'd need to wait for it to go on sale, however, to get closer to your $15 price point. Otherwise at that price, you might be better served getting the basic Xequence and an instrument or two?
BM2 - which I will continue to use until BM3 becomes universal and/or Nano Studio 2 comes out.
I went with beatmaker 2 and it's excellent. And I submitted to apple and was issued a refund for FL studio mobile
BM2 is a very smart choice (I’ll let you know if they ever sort out the IAA in FLSM)
Everything is going great so far only i'm having trouble getting poison 202 to record properly when overdubbing loops. I may make another post on that.
Poison has had issues, smoothest use I’ve had is as AUv3, and using AUM as IAA in BM2 to host Poison as AUv3 is a good workaround (good way for bringing AUv3 into the older hosts generally)
The only reason I wouldn’t be able to get a refund for FL Studio Mobile is I’ve owned it since the “good days”. Yeah, BM2 is pretty sweet for a hold-me-over iPhone DAW. Harmonic Dog’s Multitrack DAW is universal as well as Xewton Music Studio. The EQ in Music Studio is not necessarily the best, but....
...all on my iPhone with many, MANY sounds imported. Did I mention Music Studio has its own sampler? While it’s quite a simple sampler, you can for sure make your own patches in it. If you can’t splurge on Gadget, just get Music Studio and the sound pack expansion instead.
