FM Kick Drums (KQDixie)
I am tempted to drag out a bunch of studio processed heavy kicks into my projects, sampled classic machines, Buchla recordings, etc... However, with some discipline, I would prefer to design my drums. Right now I am scouring the net for DX7 patches to load into KQDixie. That being said, it is hard to find modern weighty kick drums amidst a wealth of retro piano sounds. Has anyone come across some solid DX7 Kick patches?

Square peg > Round hole - IMO
I took a quick look through my biggest archive of downloaded patches from the web, and there are almost no kicks whatsoever. Given that there is almost everything else under the sun, I tend to think that the DX7 doesn't lend itself particularly well to that. I'm sure having said that someone will pop up to tell me what an idiot I am ... so then you'll have your answer! You can thank me now.
Personally, I'd start with an app targeted more to crafting drum sounds. Ruismaker FM, Ruismaker, SeekBeats, Elastic Drums, DM2, iELECTRIBE, the list goes on and on. KQ Dixie wouldn't have even come to mind.

I am sure it is possible to produce a solid kick using 6 operator FM synthesis. There must be some really nice drums on those hot new Diggytones, which have even less operators. Even if you have to process it a bit, I still have to process a subtractive kick with a compressor, etc. Maybe I will sit with a tutorial and make some.
@futureaztec here’s link to one 32 voice collection of sounds including several drum kits and percussive sounds (some interesting starting points for developing hits)

My particular preference/perversion re synth drums is very fm, so if I find more items among the stuff I downloaded for Dixie off the net I’ll link here or PM u...I know there’s more...
Another nice app for synth drums, kicks etc, (including using ring mod and fm) would be Stroke Machine by Wolfram Franke
Also FM synth drum is the plan behind BramBos Ruismaker FM...
If you didn’t get the links from the first Dixie thread:

This patch is working well with some minor adjustments.
appreciated.
