AUM and Behringer UCA222 issue

Weird problem with AUM and Behringer UCA222.

I recently got one of these Behringer units for my iPad Air 2 running 10.3.3 (because yes, I still love Alchemy and it's a core part of my live setup)! Anyway, when I plug this in using a camera adaptor (either 2 or 3), run AUM, and add a channel, the only output option I get is USB mono. If I then unplug the adaptor and replug, it suddenly reverts to stereo (with a mono L or R option).

I have no idea why this occurs. Have restarted iPad etc, without change. Thoughts?
