CCK doesn’t work anymore?

Did I miss something about old CCKs working with iOS11 any more or something? My CCK can’t power anything anymore...

Maybe it’s broken? How would I check?

Are you getting the ‘This accessory is not supported by this device’ pop-up when you plug it in, or just nothing at all?

  • Make sure the connector and jack is clean.

  • They do sometimes just phutz and die without warning; I had one drop dead on me suddenly during a long-haul flight, though that was in use rather than between uses. They're quite complex beasts on the inside, so I suppose it's to be expected occasionally – though it's worth cleaning the port with a toothpick before booking the funeral.

  • I had an issue with an older CCK via a 30 pin to lightning adaptor. I spoke to someone at my local Apple store who said that daisy chaining Apple devices often doesn’t work, so i needed to buy a new lighning CCK. Not a cheap option given Apple’s prices (the guy in store even said that unprompted!) but it works and I’ve not had an issue since.

  • USB 3 Camera CCK Assuming lightning connector

  • Not sure what the issue is exactly, but try using a powered or unpowered USB hub between external device and cck. iOS tells me it can't power my Akai EWI but an unpowered hub sorts this out.
