Will AU3 units within Cubasis port over to Cubasis w AU units intact? (Also Cubase vs Logic Pro x

LOVE iOS forever but I’m coming to the conclusion that combining iOS and desktop is the way to go.
I’m deciding whether to go Mac/Logic or Cubase on PC. The upcoming Apple Marzipan looks great but I’m thinking I can use Cubasis with audio units also successfully when I transfer a Cubasis project into Cubase(?). Logic is great but the Cubase absolute collection has got my attention also. Thoughts, and can this be done?
If Steinberg’s business plan was to entice me towards Cubase from Cubasis then they’ve succeeded pretty much. But then there’s this:

    Aren’t AU plugins only for Apple people? I didn’t think Cubasis on PC would use AU, but rather VST. I would be surprised if you could go back and forth between Cubase and Cubasis with plugins intact, but I don’t know anything for sure. I haven’t done any audio on my PC for a couple of years.

  • No, IOS audio units themselves dont get sent to Mac or Pc, you might want to check out Studiomux if you havent yet though, which will let you use AU and IAA apps from your desktop Daw. Im hoping one day we can use IOS apps on Macs, but something tell me Apple is going to require us to buy brand new Macs for it to work, my MacBook Pro is a 2011 so I doubt Ill be able to run what ever Mac OS is next, lol.

  • Steinberg => vst

    But what you described, as far as I understand, is already possible with Garage Band if you use AuV3s available on both platforms. Create a project on iOS, add a FAC plugins for exemple, then share the project and reopen it on macOS Garage Band you should get same session. AuV3 should get more attention on macOS. Today it’s supported by Logic Pro X, Garage Band and Hosting AU.
