Modified Ear buds(phones) OT

A couple of weeks ago, I had an idea. Why not take the uncomfortable foam ends off my JVC earbuds and attach/put on a pair of the rubber-ish ends that are on my stethoscope. Mostly, because I know how clear a person's heart and lungs and blood pressure sound when using them. I know/knew that part of the reason is the receiving end is able to pick up the sound with the material it is made of. So, anyway, I did it, and.......I have another set of JVC earbuds that are exactly the same, but have a smaller foam end on them that fit well in my ears.

I think, that the modified buds sound fantastic. The sound is clear, bass is better, or more full sounding, and they act as a sort of noise isolating earbud. Or, noise keeper outter earbuds. I can't hear shit outside the music when I have them on, unless my fam says DAD!!!!!! Really loud..........

Anyway, here are some pics, and I must say, that it probably looks goofy as hell when I have them in, but I love the way they block out the noise and the way they sound. Whould-a thought? Well, I did. What have you tried?

  • I'm not a doctor, so I use this stuff called "Radians Custom Molded Earplugs" off amazon. It's a moldable silicone blob you stick in your ear with the buds embedded (sans rubber bit) and it hardens to a tight fit. I can't get earplugs to stay in, but these never budge. They don't block sound 100%, but very nearly. Combine them with those funky buds of yours and you'll surely die under a bus.

Step 2 rig up your headphones inside your stethoscope and pretend you are “working”

  • Are you a doctor?

  • What!!? You mean you don’t use a Bose wireless stethoscope!? You don’t know what you’re missing!!

  • I must admit my earphones have been playing up a bit recently..

hmmm.....That's cool. Good idea for use of molded ear plugs. So like this:

That would be a great idea. Though, my co-worker's may become a bit suspicious. lol

    Man I wish.

  • I’ve tried radians a few times and once wound up with a piece that broke off and got stuck in my ear, it is the worst pain I’ve ever had I think (and I had my large intestine removed due to ulcerative colitis in 1994, so that’s saying something about the pain).

I have custom iem’s that are really comfortable and weren’t too much money (about $300), but the radians really can’t get deep enough to have good bass, at least when I do it. I tried the radians in between sets of custom iem’s I should mention.

But if it works for you, that’s good, I wish it had for me.
