audiobus 3 crackly audio
i’m trying to record apps into blocs wav via audiobus.
some apps work, but the majority of them are having trouble processing the audio. it gets very crunchy and crackly when piped through audiobus. I thought it was a blocs wav issue, so i removes it from the chain, but it still happens. I have been trying different apps. outside of audiobus they work fine, but when i put them in audiobus, even if it is the only app, it still has trouble processing the audio. are there audio quality settings i can change within audiobus. i have tried changing latency, setting. switching abelton link on and off, and measurement mode on off. nothing seems to work. the worst offender is Gallelo organ app. it really struggles with this app. and my ipad pro has plenty of free space and processor is plenty fast. it’s weird. any ideas guys

If you use measurement mode I guess you’re using your device on internal speakers, which works at 48 kHz. IAA apps don’t works well at that rate and need 44.1, or you will get those permanent crackles. Unfortunately, the only fix is to use headphones/external speakers, Audiobus will use 44.1 rate automatically. Or use AUV3 apps...
Did you try the restart, airplane mode, and finally re-install Audiobus triple play?
i’m just using headphone for output
You could try launching the app from outside and/or within Audiobus to see if it acts any different, too.
i did a restart of my ipad. never would have thought of airplane mode, but i will try. and maybe reinstall is what is needed.
And if you haven’t murdered Siri yet, you should.
48 kHz is just the iPhone 7 8 and X, correct?
what’s weird is i have an ipad 7 plus, and ipad pro. same thing on each.
I’m not sure if the latest iPads went 48 kHz yet. I only heard about the newer iPhones going 48 kHz, but maybe your iPad is as well.
Weird thing is it should be ok with headphones. Not sure for 48khz internal speaker in latest iPad you’re right @CracklePot
I can't use AB3 due to perpetual issues and reliability with my set up.
I use AB2 90% of time.

Here is one that is very glitchy

@tja we’re you able to duplicate any of the glitches rom the preset i put up here? I’m so confused as to what is going on

exactlly. it sounds like an old scratchy record. I tried several sets of headphones, and it seems like it may be some microphone interference as well. almost as if it’s mixing mic signal with the signal chain off the synth apps and causeing some weird interference. if i tap the mic, the degradation of the audio gets worse. it’s so weird.
That’s the first thing I thought of when reading the more detailed descriptions of the weird noise problem. It sounds like the mic is on too, somehow.
I did this on my iPad Air 2 running iOS 11.2.6 and Audiobus 3.0.14 and the most recent versions of Galileo and Blocs Wav but didn’t get any crackling even at low latencies. Because my recording timing was bad, I had to edit the sample and use the slip function to eliminate the looping click. I didn’t pick up any mic noise during the recording either. If the headphones you’re using have a built-in mic, that might be the source of the problem. You should also be able to record Galileo into Blocs Wave without headphones to totally eliminate that as an issue.
yep, but i’m not sure how to fix it.
yeah, i’m starting to think it might be an ipad pro problem. I had an original air before i got my pro for christmas, and never had any problems. I am going to try headphones without a mic and see if that changes anything.
so some interesting results. when i used headphones without a built in mic. all my previously glitchy apps seem to work when chaine dwith loopy at the end.
but when i put blocs wav at the end of the chain. all the apps feeding into it get glitchy.
so in conclusion it seems like
it’s best to use headphones without a mic
and
something is weird with blocs wave.
Are you sure you not use 48 kHz? Have you got AUM to check what samplerate is used? As I said IAA is 44.1 only, to me that issue sounds samplerate related.
i checked the sample rate it is 44.1? synths and other apps seem to be fine in aum. i just can’t record into blocs, or loopy in aum. So then i have to use audiobus 3 that’s when things start getting glitchy. i wish your could use loopy or blocs directly in aum.
Until you can get your problem sorted, I suggest just recording to AudioShare in AUM for the time being so you can move past this problem for now, if you are getting frustrated and just want to create and not troubleshoot all day.
It’s a little more disjointed and cumbersome and all that to have to use AudioShare instead of recording to Loopy or Blocs directly, but at least you can keep on rollin’. But maybe send a bug report to Micheal, or at least email him if he doesn’t pop up on here with advice.
You can record perfect loops in AUM, btw.
Nothing is perfect for me on iOS anymore....LOL
