Need some help with designing my rig
Hi everyone,
I want to set up a keyboard rig, and having an iPad (probably with audiobus3) as the center.
I basically want to be able to easily switch between different sounds (both from iPad synths and outboard gear) using the same keyboard, possibly with splitting.
I also want to be able to record this easily on my computer, both midi and audio.
So I'm thinking of getting an iConnectivity iConnectAudio4+, and connecting it to both my iPad and computer (since it has that ability). I would then connect a keyboard and my Behringer X Touch Mini (could use midi for one of them or get a HUB and connect them both through USB), and the idea is that I could use the buttons on the XTouch to switch between different sounds / synths.
That's the part where I'm not sure how to tackle it, switching between setups through a midi button, so the midi from my keyboard gets routed to something else. Is this something audiobus can do? What would be the steps involved in making that work? Or do I need something else to get this working?
Ideally I'd also be able to use the rotary encoders on the xtouch to control the selected synths... it has led rings to show values, but I have no idea if it would even be possible to get those to work.
I do have audiobus installed, but don't have the interface yet so I can't really play around, and I'd like to know if what I'm trying to do is even possible, before I start investing.
