No, the Launchpad and LaunchControl both work with the Launchpad app out of the box....Launchpad can control all pads, volume and filter...The LaunchControl does the same but you have to scroll pads up and down. Using the 2 together means you have access to all pads, volume and filter without any paging on the devices
The Launchkey works with Groovebox straight out of the box too, the controls that are mapped are to those controls that you have with the synths without unlocking.
All of this with zero setup, no routing to set up, no mapping needed.....proper plug and play
Got it. Factory preset 4 works with LC and the Launchpad app. Sounds like a nice rig you have. I’m traveling light and trying to keep my gear needs down so probably won’t be picking up a LK. BeatMaker 3 will likely become my main live performance app with the LC and a Quneo. As it stands now, Groovebox is a fun composition tool and I may continue to create there and import files into scenes in BM3.
Curious and apologies if answer is inches away: does anyone know of a 4x4 16 pad physical controller that reflects Groovebox’s Drumbox layout and works w/out MIDI-learn setup? (Or with minimal setup effort)
Tempted by the HaqAttaq recommendation but suppose one wanted to optimize Just pads x Drumbox - anything come to mind?
The pads on Launchkey Mini MK3 are surprisingly great considering the low price point and will map to Drumbox once connected. There’s no setup needed and pad colours reflect those on the currently selected kit.
Thanks for that @BlueGreenSpiral and LK M MK3 may end up being king here but suddenly I'm wondering how the Circuit (which I own) interfaces with Groovebox .. specifically Drumbox within // will try but in the meantime: has anyone else employed this combo?
I forgot to mention you get control of some Drumbox parameters with the LK MK 3. Also pitching keys down one octave, holding down some keys, pressing 'fixed chord', then enabling the arp and dialling in 'deviate' and 'mutate' to taste is a great one-finger random breakbeat generator.
Don't have a circuit here, think the Launckey range are the only way to get proper control of Groovebox?
Good stuff @BlueGreenSpiral - thanks again!
