Vatanator SX just went AU!
Vatanator SX just went AU! Have been hoping for this after the original Vatanator iPad app got the AU treatment a while back.

@brambos this is the pattern template. Any chance of getting it into Rozeta please?
(Also, have been meaning to ask if Rozeta could have templates for MV08a and MV08b for the full 16 channels?). Thank you!
And for those who don’t know, this is a very dope drum machine. 140 drumkits out of the box, sample import to build your own kits, delay/distortion/filter/reverb/ringmod, channel mixer with panning, env/amp/tuning control per sample, XY controls, fully MIDI’d up, the standalone has a step sequencer and song mode. And now AU!
Total sleeper app.
Yeah had my eye on this one, but wondering whether to go for iPhone or iPad version now, wish it was universal. I take it the AU is the same with each version....
does vatanator have slice to pads - where you can drop a sample on one pad then distribute it across all the pads in a "slice mode" like grooverider gr16?
Also is their a limited amount of sample time allowed for sample import and can I sample into it via Apple Camera Kit/usb soundcard?
Thanks, what is the difference between original and sx ?
SX Looks to be the phone version.
No, I don’t think so.
The developer is @backpullver but not sure how often they are on this forum. Better to use this contact form for questions I think http://www.vatanator.com/contact/
Yes, I think SX is the same spec. Just the iPhone GUI. CC @Carnbot
Does the SX flavor AU contain the step sequencer? It’s dissapointingly absent from the standard fair Vatanator AU.
No, not in the AU unfortunately.
I’ve also just noticed some layout issues on the 8+ AU screen. Will report.
That is unfortunate. But thanks for the info.
I guess I’ve got used to a handful of sequencers and use them for all AUs now.
I’ve got Rozeta, but what else is good on the sequencer front?
The others are standalone with Quantum in pole position. I also like Snap, all the Lumbeat apps, Concentric, Patterning of course, even Mint.IO...
Just bought it. This thing is a work of art and simplicity!!! I’ve been waiting for something like this for a long time!! I see a couple of UI bugs that will hopefully get straightened out soon, but aside from that it looks like a winner!! It would be nice to have iFiles/OpenIn support for sample import, but aside from that, it looks like a well thought out app!! I’m going to give this first release a big thumbs up!!
Awesome. I’ll have to check those out. Thanks for the tips.
ok cheers for info - 8 pads bit limited Will try find out if it has resample to pads and if it's just one pad bank - 2 would be cool.
You can use Samplist for that. Load a sample, slice it to pads or play slices in Chromatic mode. It has realtime timestretch also. No AU though. Only Audiobus and IAA.

ok cool -
I agree with @alecsbuga I use Vatanator more to make loops using its own sequencer and collection of samples. While you can make your own kits IMHO that’s not its strength. As a loop creator it has a certain something that makes it really cool. I’d build loops in it and then use Samplist for slicing and playback.
Samplist will have a sequencer too. It's in early stages right now.
Looking forward.
Actually the eight pads are more like a preview for the loaded kit, you can play all individual samples via MIDI, I have added some notes in the manual how you can customize that.
Hey @backpullver , I just wanted to say things for not forgetting about us iPhone users!!! This is an awesome update!!!! Thank you!!!
Also, now it’s AU you should be able to fit 16 pads onscreen.
cheers - good point - basically load multiiple Vatanator? thing iam not sure about when loading in a DAW will i be able to do swing/quantize independantly or will it be via the host DAW?
@backpullver would be great if the step sequencer portion was available in the au!
