  • 3: Arp Odysseiiiiii i (because I know it inside out despite its limitations)
5: IMS-20 (same as above, doesn’t have any limitations, except the ring mod is squarewave only, same as on the Odysseiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii ii ii ii i i i i ni ni ni)
    2: SpringSound (it’s just good)
4: iMonoPoly (because I know it inside out, etc)
7: iM1 (because that’s where I go to get a bass line done first).

Moog model D has quite severe limitations in the modulation mixdown department, committing you too early in the process in my opinion – perfect for performance, but a bit restrictive for synthesis.
Similarly Model 15 has limitations. Neither of them have a sample and hold, and I quite like the use of sample and hold to sample down a ramp (not noise, like everyone else) and achieve a ‘stepping’ desynchronisation effect. The Moogs simply can’t do that, in the way that an MS-20 can, for example.

    Some good points...thank´s.
For me it´s that Moog ladder filter which is much better in Model D than in Model 15. The overdrive works wonder too for extra growl. I just love it. Otherwise if i could build my own modular on iOS i indeed would add some things. S&H is always great.
    Never heard about Spring Sound.
I guess Sunrizer and Infinite would be also in my list if i had an iPad (i have these as desktop plug-ins).

  • SpringSound is a very scientific take on physical modelling, based on mass and movement and springs and stick/slip friction and tension and such. Essentially, it goes boing, but in a phenomenally sophisticated way.

    1. Model D
    2. WaveMapper
    3. Kauldron
    4. Zeeon
    5. Mood

    Honerable mentions

    1. DRC - would be in my top 5 if it was AU and had a better save / share system.
    2. Syntronik - if it had a better save share system would up there with the best.
    3. Karp Oddy - great leads, no AU and crap save / share.
    4. Redshrike - lovely except just a tad cold feeling compared with more allrounders.
    5. Addictive Pro - needs bank save / share
  • In no particular order:

    Mood
    Ripplemaker
    Nave
    Synthscaper
    Zeeon

  • I would love to see a faithful repro of my first real synth, the Roland SH-1.

Spending most of my iOS time now with Kauldron (Spawn2!) the synths in FLSM and Model D.

  • I’m spending all of my time in Gadget and on my new iPhone. Makes sense, don’t you know.

  • Model 15, Model D, Twin 2, iWAVESTATION and SunVox.

  • Synthscaper has kept me from buying new synths for over 6 months now. Well, until iMinimoog came along for 5 bucks, that is.

    1. Synthscaper
    2. Zeeon
    3. iVCS3
    4. DRC
    5. Animoog
    • Animoog
    • Z3ta
    • Sunriser
    • Alchemy
(Been sampling them all into Gadget)

Then for my last one I’ll choose something from Gadget - probably Mono/Poly (but iWAVESTATION is fantastic).

Honourable mentions from Gadget: Kiev, Dublin and Lisbon

  • The more i play with Model D the more i like it. It´s now Nr.1 by a country mile.
Even if i would put all my desktop synths into the vote it would be in the Top 5.
I just compared that again in depth to Monark and The Legend (i could demo it again).
And this app put them to shame....especially if you gain stage everything and turn the feedback on.
Also filter modulations at audio rate give me that sound i love from P900. Only this app comes close and even beats it in some areas.
I know i repeat here but i just can´t believe how good and in your face this app sounds against even a lot of my plug-ins. I just consider again an iPad to have more fun with this :)

  • What I keep reaching for....
    Model 15
    Nave
    Zeeon
    Mood
    Ripplemaker

I sometimes wonder why I have most of my apps when I really look at Gadget.

Gadget is a having GUI with 2 options like Ableton from being my only app.

I just wish use it like Ableton and that would be perfect.

  • 1) Alchemy/GB
    2 ) Model D
    3) KQ Dixie
    4) n/a
    5) n/a

  • I love lists:

    1. Model D
    2. Animoog
    3. Cyclop
    4. Model 15
    5. DRC

Zeeon would’ve been high on the list, but she’s been giving me some trouble recently and there’s a new hottie in my sights.

  • Oh yeah, and FM4 would’ve made the list if it was updated like its VST sibling and made an AUv3.

  • In no particular order:

    Model D
    Mood
    Model 15
    MonoPoly
    iSEM

  • Today’s flavour:

    Troublemaker
    ZedSynth
    PPG Infinite
    DRC
    TC-11

  • Mitosynth
    DRC
    Alchemy
    iSEM
    Model D

    1. Animoog: iOS gold standard utilizing GUI and company history in an innovative and amazing sounding wave table analog modeling synth
    2. DRC is only synth I know of that integrates VST and shares entire user bank via cloud. Super cool with a Universal app allowing preset design for VST anywhere. Developer is awesome
    3. LayR : No better synth for unique ARPs and complex evolving pads and soundscapes- never mind the awesome leads and bass it can do as well. Another great indy developer who works his ass off.
    4. Poision : No better for classic NYC house and techno
    5. Ripplemaker: Amazing first of its kind true west coast style synth app that doesn't dip out on the highs or lows while using a super intuitive and fun to use live sequencer. Would love true MIDI learn on this app.
  • Model D
    Syntronik
    Zeeon
    Poison 202
    Tera Synth

  • Model D (Newest God synth, like the Justin Beiber of iOS synths right now)
iMono/Poly (Old God synth. We broke up, but now we are together again)
iSEM (My God of "Old God AUv3 synths")
Zeeon (Actually God. I wish this was an actual piece of hardware sometimes)
DRC (Yo this is one of the most underrated synths. I don't think the devs even realize how sick their app is. Got it on both iOS & MacOS. They need to go AUv3 on this ASAP WTF!!!)

I hear you with the AU. Don't understand why this has not been done yet. But the save/share system that uses the cloud is the best IMO. It's super useful when you start a patch on desktop but then gotta tweak on the go (or vice versa).

According to the devs, they are still working on AU, but it’s not super easy with the coding used.

Unless I’ve missed something, as a iPad only user, I have no real way of saving and sharing the sounds I’ve made for backup beyond the online account. I’ve lost sounds on that online account a few times after deleting and then downloading the app again. With no other backup, I don’t see how I can save my presets and share easily with others without use of a computer.

  • My top five are the next five to hit the app store...in no particular order

  • Synthscaper
    Model D
    Zeeon
    Montpellier
    Kauldron
