Hidden Gem: 'RD4 - Groovebox'

I've only just discovered 'RD4' and am surprised how little buzz there's been about it (though @thesoundtestroom did a full demo in 2013)

Coming across as a younger cousin to the mighty Rebirth App (RIP) and one of the most workflow-fluid groovebox (or otherwise) apps I've ever used 'RD4' is a Hell of a lot of fun + feels spectacular even on the wee 6s screen and has been effortless to learn. I've yet to test it myself but controller-mapping is doable (FTW x 303 emulation) and it records nicely both internally and via AudioShare etc.

This app hits such a sweet spot of limitation and ability. Real love for this one.

Thanx for the tip, I might just buy it.

What's generous is that the limited version is both free and revealing enough so you know pretty quickly if it's worth the full $3.99 "pro". I played with it less than 60 seconds before shifting into Take My Money mode. :)

  • This one was on Android for years as well. One of the best ever on that platform, but not much real competition either.

    Agree. I did buy it.
Just another gas bill to present to my wife

  • It's certainly good fun. I remember it from Android days, too. Is there panning somewhere? I couldn't find it.

  • Great app with native support

I loved this app gonna reinstall.

  • Yep it's great app. Sounds clean .. but I was having timing issues with it. So deleted .. maybe I'll reinstall see if it's sorted.

I know this thread is few years old now, but wondering if you know if I can midi synch this with my korg Electribe so I can use the app as a 303 synch with my other hardware?
Have had the RD4 on my Android Tablet for a while now and love it. Great for sketching stuff down, especially drum ideas I have.

  • I think that comes with the IAP full version?

  • It seems to be having horrendous timing issues in AUM with Link on as far as I can tell. The 303 does sound good though.
