Behringer UCA 202 or UCA 222 are really good for 25/30 euros on Amazon and other places. You’ve got two rca ins and two rca outs, optical out, headphones out, and direct monitor switch. It’s compatible with iOS, OS X and Windows. I use it to connect my iPhone to my laptop and vice versa when I want iOS apps with Ableton and Reason via Link sync with no latency issues thanks to direct monitor switch. Recordings are pretty good too IMO, I was surprised by that. Headphones output is for high impedance cans, but I use it with a 32 ohm Superlux Evo 681 and it’s good enough to monitor. You will also need a CCK 3 Apple adapter (usb3 to lightning adapter) to connect the UCA 202/222 to your iPhone, it’s 45 euros but will be usable for other devices, for example midi keyboard with usb hub, etc. Not sure if there is any cheaper lightning audio interface with stereo inputs solution.

  • Another option would be the Focusrite iTrack dock. If you add up the USB interface and the USB3 CCK, you're not far away from its price.
Doubles as a stand (you'll need a piece of wood to make the iPhone fit properly), charges during use, has great AD/DA converters and offers the option to connect an additional USB MIDI interface as well. The dedicated volume and monitoring controls are handy too.
