Beat Snap! (Go Die.)

So there's a great new free app called Beat Snap! Which if I'm reading Tim Webb's righteous anger on Discchord correctly, autosubscribes after the free trial period for $3 a week, which is more than $150 for a sub-Launchpad-looking app. That's $150+ EVERY YEAR.

Seriously, who makes an app like this? When you work for this kind of company, are you fully aware that this is a scam, and too bad for the suckers that fall for it?

Comments

  • 1 Star Total Scam Review added to App Store. So lame.

  • In general, if it’s free and the word “beat” is in the title, avoid

How can an autoscription cost you money when you don't have a CC or bankaccount linked to your Apple account? Besides that probably there's something of a explanation of what will happen after the free trail period, before you start using the app. Loads of people just don't read that stuff... So I see more it more like a haters rant against this app.
That sad I'm not a fan of subscription models, so I won't even try it.

The way Tim describes it, to even test it you have to consent. And I think most people do have a credit card linked to an App Store account.

    From Discchord:
"I try to respect another man's hustle, but fuck this. The only people paying that are kids who don't pay attention to the way the "Trial Period" puts you instantly into a recurring $3 per week subscription after the first week. A trap I nearly fell into myself! I wanted to check the app out and nearly hit the Confirm button too soon.

So this is an app to steal lunch money from kids... every week."

  • I have not too many angry feelings towards apps that use a constantly updated library of samples/assets to make the subscription worth it. However, Auxy this is not. It looks like shit, and $2.99 per WEEK?! Per WEEK?! If it was $2.99/month, I could see it being worth a try, but $2.99/week is just ridiculous.

    I cancelled Auxy

Not worth it for what it does IMHO

Medley has IAA and then I can use the $5 on Launchpad packs......just me though

  • If they don't like Beat Snap!, a kid will learn to spend their money with more caution. Think of it as an educational app. :)

I wonder why Apple allows it. I saw they pulled some game that tried charging a subscription, even when it all looked above board. Maybe they'll nix this one too though, honestly, if they're going to allow the subscription model for anything, it's always going to come down to the responsibility of the buyer to know what they're getting into.

  • I’m beta testing this. You don’t have to pay, but like most that you don’t, the soundest is limited. $3 a week is pretty intense however.

    Mugs Wanted Inc? ;)

Seriously, though, Apple needs to pull the rubbish out of the App Store.
