ipad screen recording fails when using audio interface

Is this the same for everyone, or just me?
I'm using iconnectaudio 4 and audio enabled on screen recording.

  • Screen record is an epic fail... Why they bothered with it before getting Files properly working is just another example of Apple doing their own thing and doing it badly...

  • @Carnbot I'm curious if you have the same result with audio disabled?

The Screen Recording audio is crap anyway, mono, and never seems to capture every app. My point being, if you are using an interface then you are going to be recording the audio elsewhere anyway, either in Audiobus orAUM or your DAW.

  • It's definitely a useful thing to have though, but wonder why it's failing when using an interface.....stereo would be nice too.

it works if audio is disabled yes

I'm just glad its an option. I'm way past expecting Apple to release something that works as intended on version 1.0

Hehehe, not even the Mail app works in a minimal way.
    Since 10 years and longer.

For example, there is still no "select all" after a search.

What to do with the 12000 mails you searched for and want to delete?
Yes, you need to select one by one, 12000 times.

    Soooo stupid.

I suggest you change your email address !!!

  • 12000 emails that you haven't previously deleted as they arrived, that is a lot of spam.

  • If your getting 12000 junk e-mails a day, it probably would be worth getting a new e-mails address ....

Because it’s half-baked. Grrrr. I guess I’m not over it yet. Apple have the resources to make sure every feature of iOS is polished and perfect. I cannot fathom why, other than it seems hiring marketers is cheaper than coders? They present their product as perfect and magical and we largely believe it regardless of the actual product.

I am pretty sure it does exactly what they advertised it would do, it may not be all singing and dancing, half baked, nope.

  • Ha, maybe so. But this is the BIG APPLE, they could do better.

There is a sort of way to delete lots of mail at once - I don’t have a link and I have to google it every time to get the sequence right.
But as I recall - hit the edit button, select one email, press and hold Move, deselect the one email then release Move. Then select the Trash folder in the pop up. Should move everything in the list to Trash. Then go to Trash folder and there’s a delete all button somewhere.
    Total BS how hard it

  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • Hmmm, I never have any issue deleting complete lists of mails with mail. Always works by edit-selecting all mails you wish-delete. Easy as pie (or did I not understand something here?).

  • I love screen record for my youtube channel but i record audio from a separate device and I sink it in post. Then edit it in lumafusion

I tried this when trying to make some BM3 videos but got major sync issues.

Without the above trick, you need to select the mail one by one!
    That is the problem.

If you have 10, 100, 1000, 10000 it gets increasingly more time and nerve consuming.
Which is totally stupid, as any other software just has an "select all" button.

    Understood. Thanks for clarifying.

Audio in Screen Recording sounds like crap and it doesn't record optional finger taps on the screen. What kind of screen recording app wouldn't have an option to show finger taps? Even android apps can show finger taps.

  • edited April 2018

Audio in screen recording is perfectly fine here, follows the system settings, other than it being mono, which 99.9% of use cases for screen recording is good enough.

Stereo would be nice at some point, and the ability to record audio from apps you launch after hitting record, and obviously the aforementioned visible tap.
Besides that, the complaints about the screen recording are nonsense.

Audio in screen recording is not perfectly fine if it cannot record what it hears (mono or stereo) but it records only in mono which is less than 99.9% of use cases. How hard is it to record what it hears? Why should it be only mono even when the audio is in stereo? This forces us to record audio separately which is what the OP is doing. Mono and no finger taps are flawed design. This is 2018

I suspect it is mono so that it works on all devices supported by IOS 11 without having major crackling/slow down issues, same goes for finger taps, but yes, assume that everybody can afford and only uses the fastest hardware designs possible and release working only for that, what was that about flawed design ?
