  • Does Miroslav Philharmonik 2 include the sounds of Miroslav Philharmonik? Or we need to purchase both?

  • Cinematic Percussion would add the cherry on top!

    Thanks for the info!
BTW... the jump from Miroslav 1 to 2 seems to be big, right? There are loads more on Miro 2?

The Miroslav Philharmonik 2 pack does not include Miroslav 1.

  • Hello @ikmultimedia, I am tempted to buy Miroslav Philharmonik 2 and use it in my (free) Sampletank 3 Custom Shop VSTi (and VST3) in Reaper (latest 64 bit version) on my Windows 7 (64) PC, but Sampletank keeps crashing Reaper, so I can't use it!! According to messages on several forums, the problems with Sampletank and Reaper are 'known problems' and may be related to the fact that the free version of Sampeltank for PC is only 32 bit (and problematic on 64 bit DAWs) and that Reaper is 'not supported' by iKMultimedia. Both very strange arguments, in my opinion....
My question is: are you considering to bring out a 'also Reaper friendly' 64 bit version of Sampletank 3 Custom Shop in the near future?

That is good to know. I've had Miroslav 2 for a while and I like it a lot, but if there are unique instruments in Misroslav 1 that I don't have I might just have to grab it.

@ikmultimedia , any news on the timeline of Sampletank adding AUv3? SampleTank is probably my favorite and most used sound module I have that doesn't yet work as an Audio Unit. While Inter App Audio is sufficient, loading multiple AUs would make composing so much more efficient, being able to work on more than one track at a time in Cubasis.

  • I actually jammed w Miroslav one afternoon!

Reaper is supported and the 64-bit version SampleTank 3 runs very well in it. Please send me any ticket where you may have been told anything otherwise and I'll take care of it. That is certainly not true, ST3 runs very well in Reaper so I'm sure the support team would be able to get you running without issue.

Also, SampleTank 3 Custom Shop (the free version) is 64-bit (since SampleTank 3 has been 64-bit only from the go) and the only 32-bit versions were 2.x and back.

I don't have a specific timeframe but I'll go bug some folks about this again just to keep it fresh and for me to be as annoying as possible to the iOS devs ;)

  • I’m really happy with iSymphonic. How do these sounds compare?

As long there is that Apple iOS memory limitation for AUs, all sample based AUs will suffer badly from that.

Meaning, that you may not be able to use as many instances as you imagine.

I'm actually used to a workflow of only working on 1 or two tracks at a time in Cubasis, freezing them, and then moving on to another track. The recent Cubasis update fixed the freeze issue where memory was still being consumed by the AU even when it was frozen. Now that the memory consumption is no longer a problem after a track is frozen, I can quickly bounce back and forth between tracks, unfreezing 1 or two tracks at a time to work on them while leaving everything else frozen. Before the update, I was having to freeze the track, unfreeze the track (but keep the audio), and remove the AU instrument and any AU effects I had inserted - very time consuming and annoying.

This process is now working with iSymphonic, and when I unfreeze the track it actually remembers the instrument I was using. Before the update, it wouldn't remember the instrument, so I was having to rely on labeling the midi sections by the app name and the instrument name I was using. I still use this naming convention for the midi sections, but it's nice not having to reload the AU's and find the instrument in the super long list each time I go back to work on a certain track. And the Insert Effects load up where they left off to, so I don't have to go reload them either.

I know it's not the same as having a large amount of VSTs running live on a PC DAW, but it's a lot quicker than having to manually open the apps or reselect the AU and the patch each time you work on a track.

    please do

I was also wondering if IK could make it so that all purchases in the full version transfer to the free version — that way we would at least have two instances available as a workaround

they‘re quite good as well. they complement each other well because they are so different. Miroslav is a more systematic library of instruments vs the playable pre-layered patches in iSymphonic.
Miroslav, like all IKM stuff has less presence and sounds a bit thinner than crudebytes, a side effect of their effort to keep file size small, I assume.

Exactly! I use a combination of Miroslav, iSymphonic, and BeatHawk's Strings and Brass. Miroslav really shines when you're working on a more delicate section, and then you can't beat iSymphonic's Movie Orchestra patches that come with the Corda expansion when you need a huge multiple octave chord for a deep impact! I kind of prefer Miroslav for the melodic lines, and iSymphonic for the chords and full ensemble sounds.

I'm not sure how to best describe the Beathawk String Ensembles and Brass Ensembles sound banks. Maybe they're more dramatic and threatening, like their good for a film noir style movie or something? I don't know. It's like wine tasting, totally subjective. Then iSymphonic has really great sounding full ensemble patches. Miroslav has the best sounding solo instruments in my opinion, more expressive with the vibrato. All three apps are great and have unique strengths.
