MIDI routing to get Rozeta to affect an IAA synth like Sunrizer? (Cubasis 2)

Having a blast getting Rozeta to play cool stuff through AUv3s but I thought I’d risk it and try it with IAA apps in Cubasis. Sometimes it works, sometimes I get a bizarre noise. Trying to repro now with a new project just to make sure it isn’t me but I thought maybe it had something to do with MIDI signal routing. Anyone had success with this?

  • If you are loading an IAA instrument, try using the track menu to select the incoming midi port. If that doesn’t work, or you are using an IAA generator type, you have to go into the app itself and find the midi settings. Set it to the port you want to drive your synth app. Make sure channels are correct too. Sometimes you will see multiple ports which are named in a way that confuses you. Like any could be the right one, so which is the right one? Try them all to find the right one. There is no standard in place, so each app is different. Just one of the reasons why AU is preferred over IAA.

  • Try to use different midi channels for each app (if available in the app setings) to prevent conflict/crashes and dont forget to enable background audio. Sunrizer works fine with rozeta by adding an iaa midi track inside cubasis. Some apps just like to crash once in a while. :)

I haven’t done that directly in Cubasis, but I have in AUM and it really simplifies the midi routing by using the routing grid with the arrows. I’ve tried the Rozeta suite with a bunch of IAA synths (including Sunrizer) using this method and haven’t had any give me problems yet. Could be a less frustrating option for you.

Cool, I prefer working in AUM anyway :) Thank you.
