MIDI tool that adjusts incoming note length?
We just got an Alesis Trigger Pad to play samples and synths in iOS since it’s class compliant. It’s a really nice piece of gear actually. Unfortunately though the notes that it sends out are so short that Core MIDI (?) does not allow some notes to be triggered. I’d say maybe 6 out of 10 times it will trigger a note, and not the other 4 times. It works fine for most software on my Mac, but not so well in any iOS music app. Using MIDI Wrench we can see the Note ON and OFF for every hit of the pad, but they are too short. After research we’ve discovered others are having the same problem with this pad, albeit not in iOS though.
Anyway, is there an app that will set incoming note lengths to a minimum value for a given device or channel? If no, I guess this pad is not going to work for us. Shame.

Cubasis, BM3 and GarageBand will quantise note length.
So will that work for live playing or only after notes are recorded?
I tried Cubasis, but it seems to only do the recorded notes, not live midi input.
Have you tried different apps, such as drum apps as well as synth apps? Maybe the drum apps can play all the notes? Also, is there a max polyphony setting for your app you are using for your sound module? Or does it have a max polyphony that is at least known so you can verify that it can play more than 6 voices simultaneously?
I thought that maybe you had to adjust the threshold for the pad, but Midi Wrench seems to see all the incoming note hits. My guess is maybe check the polyphony setting in your app
You may be out of luck if many people are having this issue with no solution being discovered. Then it would need Alesis to add the ability to adjust note length, since it seems you can’t right now. Also, check the different configurations built in the Trigger Pad. The manual states that they are all configured for different setups, so maybe some are geared toward synth or melodic playing and have longer note values already.
I’m pretty sure MidiFire can help with this. Try posting on the MidiFire forum, I’m guessing Nic will have a quick solution for you.
Yes I think Midifire has a solution.
Sounds like a job for @JohannesD
