Looking for a good Graphics Tablet for Drawing and Animation
Hello
My partner is looking for a good tablet for drawing and animation.
We know absolutely nothing about these tablets, and would love some info on what to get.
someone Recommend a xp-pen Artist15.6 graphics drawing tablet https://www.amazon.com.au/XP-Pen-Artist15-6-Graphics-Battery-free-15-6/dp/B077XX26ZS
We'll be running on Windows 10 64bit.
We're looking for something around 6x8 or 12x9. Size is dependable, it's more quality and features we're looking for.
We would use it for casual/semi professional use.
We'll be ordering from either Amazon or somewhere local .(we live in Sydney , Australia )
We are looking for an active display.
Feel free to ask other questions.
Thanks.

Go for the iPad Pro and the Apple Pencil, nothing beats that combination.
Except something with better software.
I use this iPad Pro with the Apple Pencil but it is far more difficult to produce vector artwork that results in sensible SVG – the apps aren’t up to it. Perhaps when Affinity Designer appears, that’ll change. For now, using Affinity Designer on my Mac is where the compliant and sane SVG artwork gets made quickly and efficiently.
I must point out (slight off topic) that since a few weeks ago and at my request, the rather good text editor “Buffer Editor” on iOS now can edit SVG code, rather than simply display it as before and as all the other editors still do.
Incidentally I’ve got a first generation Intuos pro tablet (decent size) from about 15 years ago, which since the past seven years or so now can’t be used on macOS due to driver atrophy (apparently that is also the case on windows for those users), so the whole tablet is no longer usable or recognisable at all.
Except on linux! I use linux on my work computers, so I took it in to use at work all day. Linux recognises any Wacom, it seems, no matter what age.
Pen/brush tech, and drawing/painting software for PC are far beyond what’s available on iPad.
Ummm could the sensel morph be the holy grail for ipad? Haven’t tried it yet for art but...

Nah, they’re just chinese fakes. Get a real Wacom.
Ipad + iPencil is the best hardware I bought for a long time, you can draw everywhere and it's the closest thing to real pencil, no blue screens, the screen quality is top quality, etc. I use it all the time.
There are 2 good apps for painting : Procreate & Artstudio Pro.
Procreate is good for emulation of different media and is very fast, the feeling is very good, the color blending is weird compared to Photoshop but you have classic airbrushes that work almost like photoshop blending system.
Artstudio Pro is closest thing to Photoshop on Ios, you can even import ps brushes and other things, it's a bit slower than Procreate but it got far more functions.
If you want to use a tablet for 3d or animation then the Ipad is not for you, I tried some apps but it's very rough.
With Wacom tablets there is some parallax problems (don't know about the latest one ).
So the solutions would be : Ipad Pro + cheap tablet for pc (no screen) or screen tablet only for pc.
Hope it helps,
Regards.
wacom makes some nice tablets, but ipad pro and apple pencil ar> @tja said:
wacom tablets are very nice. but apple
pencil and ipad have 2 things that put it over the top. 1. the apple pencil has a fine tip where the wacom tablet has a fatter tip on its stylus, and therefore is less accurate. ( think of it like drawing with a number 2 pencil vs. one of those fat pencils kindergarteners use )
2. with the apple pencil, you are drawing directly on the screen, and it’s high resolution. with wacom tablet it’s lower resolution, and has a texture surface for stylus traction. And the wacom has to be plugged into and outlet.
My Wacom (old first generation intuos professional range) has a fine tip, not fat at all. It is very accurate. It also doesn’t have to be plugged into anything except the USB the signal goes to.
I’ve had Wacoms since they started. I had an old one, biggish like my intuos, and it had a cream mains-powered controller box from which on the back it emitted RS-232 (well, RS-422 really) into the Mac (which at that time for me was a Macintosh IIx). I also bought a small one I could take around quickly, which was ADB powered.
I’m a children’s illustrator by trade, doing all my work on an iPad (vector and pixel). Never liked Wacom tablets because I couldn’t get used to looking in one place while drawing in another. The cheapest cintiq will cost you the same as an iPad pro, but I believe if you want to use it untethered you’ll have to use Android (at least that was the way it was when I bought my first gen iPad Pro). There is definitely a dearth of Android art apps. I bet the new cheap iPads will hold up to any tablet, plus you get the added bonus of making music on it, and portability!
My 14 years old daughter practice with Photoshop and a Huion 1060 Plus, she like it very much, this tablet has received very good reviews on YT and dedicated forums:

iPad 2018 with pencil seems to be the iOS ticket, should make a good gift for her mobility graphics creativity.
