If Facebook wants to restrict content based on political views, I know of nothing that can be done about it legally, or in any practical and effective way. [...] If the government should become involved to force FB to be politically neutral, it will have to come from a direction I can't foresee.>>
Forcing FB to be totally open would be a godsend to the Russian propaganda trolls.
Looking at it from a national security standpoint probably isn't going to help those who want FB to be politically neutral. Members can be silenced or banned for a number of reasons.
I banned myself from Facebook. Twitter too.
I skipped the thread, can’t you just create a new account. Have you heard of the decoy e-mail address yet
Unfortunately over time they have proved themeselves necessary due to certain people forgetting to use their “free speech” responsibly.
As with FB etc you are still “free” to disseminate whatever views you wish, however should those views incite racial or religious hatred then you will face a consequence for that action.
Oh and if we were to make to it a legal requirement for social networks to maintain a politically neutral stance surely the same law would have to apply to news networks who have at least an equal if not greater influence on the general population, let’s not forget that a lot of those have clearly right leaning sympathies as others have pointed out.
And that’s what counts - vote with your pockets folks.
Freedom of speech is a moot point if one's speech is rendered unintelligible by poor grammar.

Not users banned by the management who doesn’t like what they say.
As for agreeing to terms, yes, that is technically correct. But only in as much as people agree with Microsoft EULA’s, and the like. Without that ‘agreement’ there is no use of the product.

The very last people I would want involved is your government (or mine) regardless of party, etc. Today’s politicians are interested only in their own agendas. None of them are trustworthy.
I would, therefore, hope that more and more people become aware of the censorship, and simply walk away. Because the side currently benefitting may be tomorrow’s victims when the political wind changes. I think we can agree that freedom of speech helps all in the long term.

Deleted.
My post was too political, and I don’t want to get into that here. Withdrawn.
For someone who walked away from the thread you sure seem to have a lot to say...*eyeroll
>
Hapilly, when I choose to post and about what is not yours to decide. Have a nice day.
No you just make personal comments then claim you’re “withdrawing from the thread”, quite a weak approach especially when accusing others of being “weak and spineless”...
He didn’t say anything here, did he?
I respect that @Zen210507 is checking himself with regard to what he is posting, and is capable of walking away from a futile online argument.
You are the one getting personal now. Please, just let it go, for everyone’s sake. We don’t need the hostility around here on the Audiobus forum.
Peace.

I said a stance was lacking. I made no comment as to personal integrity. There is a big difference.
But at the end of the day, if you don’t agree with me that is absolutely fine. I don’t know you, you don’t know me, and we don’t have to like each other.
As for withdrawing from a thread, I chose not to argue. If that also offends you, too bad. If I choose to return to a thread, this is my decision. Free speech,
If a controlled ‘safe space’ is more your style, Facebook awaits!
Thanks, CP.
Yeah, we're all already over that line, including me. Let's respect the forum and drop it, bros.

Sounds good to me.
“I find your stance deliberately obtuse and utterly spineless.”
I’d class that as a personal attack considering he’s addressing it to me.
There is no difference in my view especially when you’re accusing me of taking that stance.
As for “safe spaces” the internet generally is a pretty safe space in my view as you can say what you want without having to face many consequences, hence the speed resort to insults instead of debate online.
However in real life such actions usually have sudden and unexpected results...
I agree. I am just suggesting that you don’t hold a grudge. The forum is way more enjoyable if you don’t keep running into rivals and enemies every time you visit.
That’s all, bud. Just a friendly suggestion.
I’m pleased you agree.
However, personally if people call me out I don’t just ignore it.
I understand, and I am the same way. I have a bit of back and forth with other forum members too. Sometimes it gets personal, but afterward I really try to not have ill will toward whomever I was debating. And I try to resist the urge to reply to every reply, getting in the last word. I just try to make my point and move on to other discussions. Hopefully they are discussions about making music with iOS.
Having self control gives me more personal satisfaction than trying to win an argument
>
I agree, AP.
Sometimes it’s difficult, when debating point gets me jumped, and trying not to argue is....well, you know.
This is the only forum on which I care enough to be bothered. The rest of anti-social media I leave to those who enjoy it.
There is one other I’ve been made aware of, Captained by our very own Doug. Sounds like a good place.
When you are passionate about something or feel aggrieved by something it is harder definitely, and the odd 'spillage' is both inevitable and fine
I'm not on any of the other platforms, just this place. The rest of the family are, and I see/hear them getting all irate about some comment someone made. And usually it turns out that comment either wasn't directed at them or wasn't made with the meaning they took it to mean anyway.....
I just smugly put the headphones back on
