Newbie question....quantizing sunrizer with GarageBand drum beat

edited November 2013 in General App Discussion

Sorry if this sounds obvious but I have Sunrizer as input, GarageBand as output and I'm basically trying to quantize a synth line I play with a drum beat from GarageBand......is this possible. I have the drum beat playing along in GarageBand, I flip over to sunrizer and record the line then back to GB so now I have two tracks but once played together they are out of time, I try and be as accurate as poss time wise but after a few seconds it's noticeable....any ideas?. Thanks.

  • I'm very interested in some responses to this, as I've had similar problems when playing piano (iGrand) thru AB into Cubasis. I play in time, but the recording goes more and more off sync towards the end of the track.

  • When you record via audiobus there is a slight delay which leaves you with a synchronising problem in GB. It is easy to fix. In GB go to the start of the tracks and click on the sunrizer wav. stretch the waves as far as possible so you have a real close up of the start of your sound (a message will tell you the grid snap is off). You can then use the edit tools to cut out the little bit of silence at the start of your sunriser track. Then you need to hold and slide the wav very slightly so that it lines up properly with the drum beat - look at the peaks in the wav to guide you. Let me know how you get on!

  • Thanks I will let you know. Also I've just been reading the help docs in Sunrizer and interestingly there is a short paragraph in section 6 that says....."Recording with note quantization is not yet available but will be implemented in a forthcoming update"..........so I guess i that's my answer although I am going to try Clocktoys suggestion....thanks guys.
