Tap instruments in the side panel....:)

    Tap insert effects...:)

    Me likes

    Edit.

Tap app icon to slide to other app...

    Imini ....IAA midi.....:):):):)

    First impressions....the muts nuts

  • I love it.
And what I loved about Cubasis from the first start, is that they embed the audio per project. They don't create a mess like BM2.

My very first Impression: Wow! Nave works fine. Alchemy too, but I have had to manually start and close it before using it successfully in Cubasis. Freezing IAA apps works great, so I will overthink my plan to trade my iPad 2 for the Air ;-) Now I need to purchase some IAA effects ...

  • I have midi track triggering imini and have set up a iAA track to record that midi as an audio track but the audio track won't let me select imini as the source as its already been selected on the midi track.

Can someone try it to see if they can get IAA midi + audio working and cubasis recording the audio ?

  • You don't need to record audio from an IAA synth. Freeze it and you are done.

  • Hello,

    @commonstookie,
Within an instrument track you should.

    Best regards,
    GN

    @GuillermoNavarrete thanks

I set up an instrument track (imini)

I recorded the midi notes onto that imini instrument track.

I now want to record those midi notes from imini as audio into cubasis.

If I try to select imini as another instrument track I get a message saying I can't because its already in use.

If I add an audio track and then select imini as the audio I get the same message.

How do i get those midi notes to record onto an audio track?

And then cubasis freezes... (128gb ipad air)

    Hello,

Also, IAA Apps can only be loaded once, this is an Apple iOS7 restriction.
Therefore if you already have it loaded into a MIDI track you will not be able to load it on an audio track.

On the app help menu, you should find the complete restrictions regarding IAA.
But the solution posted by klangsulfat, will be just what you need ;)

    Best regards,
    GN

  • I see....

    Thanks both of you

  • Have found that if you fiddle with the imini knobs too much while trying to get the sound 'just right', will kill the audio completely.

close out apps and restart to get it back

  • Freezing does seem to be the work around. You can then delete that midi track and start another with the same app but a different sound (thinking of sampletank in particular here). I have to say its a country mile better than BM2. I still have to get my head round that midi editor though... And the help file looks prettier but I still can't find anything about expanding the panel, etc.

  • I'm digging this very much! Cubasis has implemented IAA nicely. Feels very efficient and simple. Niiiice.

  • @Ian:what do you mean with"expanding the panel"?Which panel?

  • This is spot on Steinberg, gives me a huge smile, awesome, i have a mini studio now.
Best IAA Implementation so far. The first host which really transmits the correct bpm etc over midi. Spot on!

Now I have to finish my soundpacks so I can order my mini retina soon :)

First,i dont know how to start a seperate
line for each points i made here.I'll edit my post for better reading if somebody could stick my nose into it.

    PROS:

beautiful integration, feels almost like plugins in a desktop DAW.
Very intuitive to use, love those small App icons everywhere :)
All iAAs are saved within a project (but not the current preset).
    Midi with IAA seems very tight,just like"sample accurate"should be (except:mid sync.see below).

    CONS:

Midi sync is not working reliable with IAA's or better to say,it's just like before :-( iSEM is
not working as IAA instrument-AUFX Dub is not working as FX node
Yes,i tried to reinstall it (at least AUFX)-Audioreverb is impossible
to freeze or mixdown.Records always a nasty feedback into
the audiofile (no matter if i put it in send or insert). Can't say if this is an Audioverb or Cubasis bug Because of the lack of other IAA fx nodes (yet).Last but big disappointment:i can only freeze or mixdown the Instrument Node into an audiofile. But there's no way to record"live" with knob movements etc.Although i can imagine this could be possible when using the IAA as generator and use virtual midi ports to connect to the IAA.

So,i have mixed feelings for now.Need to test the other instruments. But it's
an impressive look into the future of cubasis and iOS music.Hope it doesnt
take long to sort out the bugs. (iPad 4,iOS 7.03)

  • Strange. AUFX Dub and Space are working fine here. I purchased both fx today and they worked "right out the box" in Cubasis. Because I own only the iPad 2, I use the AUFX stuff as send fx only. Sync with AUFX Dub is working too. But you're absolutely right: Regarding stability, IAA is not really the burner. Not yet. I fear we must have some patience. I hope for iOS 7.1. But the IAA implementation and the plugin-like usage is a really good beginning. To be honest, it works better than I expected.

  • It works for you??That's weird. What iOS 7 version do you use?And can you please test if the mixdown/freezing of an IAA instrument with one of your FX nodes on top (send and/or insert)will put unwanted, nasty feedback (from the fx node)into the audiofile?

  • iOS 7.04. Can't try a mixdown ATM

I just did what you asked @Crabman with aufx dub on top of yonac organ and it sounds fine.

    Edit ipad air 7.3

  • edited November 2013

    7.0.4
Testing done ;-) Magellan -> AUFX:Space (as send) -> Freeze -> everything okay, also the synchronization of Magellan's arp

  • Thanks for your tests,so i guess at least this bug can be nailed down to Audioverb.Except somebody shows up and tells me its working fine with Audioverb as well :)

  • @Crabman There is a issue with AudioReverb.

  • anybody knows the polyphony with iPad Air? still 64 as with 3 and 4, or more?
