which pad type midi controller do you use?

thinking about getting a dedicated drum/pad type controller. what do you use? how's the feeling of the Beatstep Pro as this would add a bit of step sequender too.

  • Akai MPD 226, pretty nice for finger drumming. Easy to configure, painless connection to the iPad.

There's some reviews and comparisons here:

Yes I did do the course, I found it pretty useful because his mirrored pad layout makes it easy and fluid to get the rhythm/groove. I learned a lot about rhythm in the process.

I've used beatstep and this is pretty good, although I'm currently selling it on ebay LOL. Pads are nice and large which allows quite easy flams using two fingers...the unit itself being a metal body has some weight to it and doesn't move about.
Korg nanopad 2 has a nice feel which is to me better than the beatstep, the pads being smaller make flams harder but multi finger (multiple drums) playing a little easier as there is less stretching.
Nanopad 1 has slightly larger pads than the Nanopad 2, but only has 12 and not 16. This matters of course for people with 16 fingers LOL
This guy does a pretty good job with one...I wish it was as easy as he makes it look
