We need @u0421793 to check out the circuit diagram in the background of that first image

There’s an operational transconductance amplifier (OTA) used as a current source into the base of a darlington transistor pair, and that piece is step+repeated over and over at different sizes, positions, and even blur settings to simulate depth.

    Mystery solved then!

operational transconductance amplifier - used for Control of OSC's to get a VCO or Filters (I'm not an electronic whizz like @u0421793 but I can use google and Wikipedia :D ) ......as the tweaking in the vid is adding to the waveform, my money is on previously mentioned Eurorack OSC module ;)

@ikmultimedia Dude, you’re killing us with the suspense! :D

Augh, I cannot allow myself to be responsible for death by suspense!! I have posted another video clue, if that helps keep you going? :) https://www.facebook.com/ikmultimedia/videos/10160276904365147/

Why are you showing us footage of your latest dentist visit in which you get a root canal.

Come on now. Show us your knobs.

    Er...umm...stepping away from the computer.

I'll get back to you once the Novocain wears off. I opted to not be put under, so there should have been no funny business (like showing you our knobs!!). :)

We'll have at least one more video today.

@ikmultimedia I soooo want someone to release an la2a and 1176 on iOS.

I do too. But that is more than likely not this particular product. Doesn't mean it is off the table, though

I didn’t think this product was going to be. I just wanted to remind you what’s at the top of my wishlist.

There are simplified versions of each in Syntronik.

But yeah, it would be nice if IK would release some of their top T-Racks plugs as effects for iOS. Maybe in sets, like EQ, Compression, or Reverb.

  • Looks like it's a big vintage synth. Probably something in the vein of a Fairlight or Synclavier. Or maybe something modular?

  • Maybe they start also Eurorack modules (like U-he show on superbooth as well).

  • This is a tease! I can see the corner of an iPad and a controller. :) I hope you’re not leading us a merry dance!

  • It better be something that is NOT sample based :)

Actually, when I unpinch-zoomed in to the picture I could see that the transistor pair and the constant current source and the three-input op-amp are all part of the same OTA – and I can see LM13700 on there, which is the thing that a lot of the latter generation vintage synths use for the voltage-controlled-ness of the things you mention there. On that Wikipedia page, go down to the reference link to the story of the LM13700 – I found it a very interesting read a few years ago, if you like technological adventures (even if you don’t understand it all, it’s quite a good read).

It doesn't look like those cables are lined up correctly to be plugged into the ipad....

It sounds like there is filter action going on in this one though.

You're taking this with much better humor than I am. This Countdown to Our Product Launch™ ploy is really cornball. (And why are they filming these teasers at Dunder Mifflin?) At the end of this there'd better be a combination MPC/Segway or IK is going to get trolled mercilessly. If anybody other than us nerds is paying attention, that is.

  • We understand that not every type of marketing is for everybody. Seems some are genuinely interested and doing some great investigative work. Seems fun for them and others, and of course for others not so much. Just like all products are not for everybody. We understand if you don't read and/or participate and are happy that others are having fun participating/following.

The teaser videos are coming from the people who are passionate and excited about the product they are making so you won't see professional-grade video during the whole "making of" period (these videos do stretch back to some early versions) but we will of course have much better quality videos afterward.

I like this style of marketing. Look forward to what you're making.

  • @ikmultimedia I have to be honest - your responses have been nothing but classy, tasteful and respectful. You've not bashed anyone, or taken the bait of the trolls in spite of being baited more than once.

I'm impressed - I really am. Stay classy, IK - way to keep it real. It's truly refreshing.

It is bringing the Sherlock Holmes out in me :)

  • I hate this style of promotion, but have nothing but respect for IKmultimedia

  • Thanks!! Truly humbled by the responses above. I know it is hard to convey emotion via text sometimes, or at least it is easy to feel like something is implied which is not. So I'm happy my message above did not come off badly. Re-reading it I thought it might, but I figured I'd deserve it for being just SO middle-of-the-road ;)

...and generally having to be so middle-of-the-road with regard to this mystery product. By the way, I did forward the impressive posts and Sherlock Holmes style sleuthing of this thread to my superiors. So right back at ya with the compliments, sincerely as they are duly deserved!

I missed this one. Yes, I might agree to some extent as I might just hate it for a different reason LOL (having to be so dang careful about what I post, etc)

    But seriously, thank you.

I suppose though ‘hate’ is such an overused word for emotions online. I should have said dislike! ;)

Good on ya, I'll downgrade to dislike as well.

  • Recent clue... seems like hardware
    Controller?!

  • I think it's a hardware synth. I don't think it will just be a clone of some classic synth. It will have a rich analog sound, but IK will put its spin on it. iSynth. Maybe it will have multiple filters like Syntronik. Maybe it will be portable, like a lot of their gear is. The design will be spare--black and white, like all their controllers.

Either a lot of the T-Racks modules will be built in or they will come as an added bonus with the purchase.

Okay, that's all the IK thinking I can come up with today.
