Hey - thanks for the likes/subscribes. I know it's a bit ridiculous to make you all jump through hoops, but it helps me out.
@illaddin beat everyone to the punch. I messaged you already with the code - I'd love to hear your feedback.
I've got a new video launching this weekend - can't wait to hear what you all think.
Will the new video sound like it was recorded on an old 80's cassette deck ?
Thanks!! Can't wait to play around with it, and looking forward to that new video too
Nonono - I'm going for 100% VHS quality video. I'm eagerly waiting for Klevgr's DAW VHS, but while I'm waiting, DAW Cassette will have to suffice.
Your content is worth it!
Tape hiss and saturation are old news. I want a virtual cassette munching sim. If someone could simulate a “cassette that was left in a hot car” effect, that would truly be innovative, too.
Complete with IAP ?

As I recall, the hexagonal shaped yellow pencils seemed ideal for this task.
I would add “misaligned play and record head effect” to my list of innovative cassette tape effects.
I think that method was the cause of many a tape munch.
I remember salvaging melted tapes from my mother's car. Unfortunately, my mom listened to things like Willie Nelson and Ann Murray so 14-year-old-me was more interested in the process than the content.
The other thing I did a lot of was splicing cassette tapes together. I remember one time I spliced the tape too long, and there was too much tape to spool. The result was that I couldn't rewind or fast forward the tape fully because there was a point where the spooled tape would get so large that it would rub on the inside of the cassette housing and stop the motors from spooling the tape. Yep - learned that lesson the hard way.
I'm excited for Fly Tape - I like the idea of being able to have manual control of some of these parameters. I think that it would compliment DAW Cassette well. Ideally ALL these features would be in a single app, but whatever - I'm fine supporting two different developers.
Tape splicing, what a nightmare! I remember trying to experiment with tape splicing...I could never seem to get the slice position just right, and my splicing tape was cheap and my loops would come apart easily.
Your story of the too-long tape made me laugh so hard.
It is amusing to me that cassttes are making a comeback. I remember we couldn’t run away from cassette technology fast enough once digital recording and CDs arrived.
Made endless loop tapes anyone ? Pair of scissors and a tiny bit of sticky tape all that is required
That I didn't do - I wasn't clever enough. Over the years I've edited MANY a tape: cassettes at home as a childhood nerd, 1" reel tape as a radio DJ in college, VHS tape in the years when I used to manage video stores....
Nope, I don't miss it in the slightest. Bring on the apps - more tape, less mess!
Y'know - every time I used to see an unspooled cassette on the side of the road, I'd always wonder what the album was, and if it was really such a bad record as to justify completely wrecking the tape.....
I just wanted to pull over, pick it up, and respool it
So I plan on using this on full tracks along with Grand Finale, do you guys think it should go on there before or after Grand Finale mastering or both? Basically just wanna use it to make things sound warmer, nothing super destructive
I want this for my Cakewalk by BandLab... a ProChannel FX will be super...
I would think that placing it before GF would give you the maximum ability to shape the sound...
I think you’re right!
