[Recommendation] App Like the "Keyboard" in Figure

Hello, I am looking for an app that works in a similar way to the keyboard and bass sections of the Figure App. I would like something that exports or records the midi of the track while offering a similar quick playability (rhythm, range, scale steps) like the Figure App does.

Thanks in advance for you help.

  • Groovebox. It is exactly as you describe.

    The vastly underrated Beatonal does everything Figure does, has chords, and does everything you want. Also with a full synth engine, though it’s sound is probably not for everyone. Groovebox is cool and similar in terms of pick up and play feel but Beatonal is literally a developer going “what if I just made Figure but with a lot more features”

    I have Groovebox, but have not found it as easy to use. The menu diving has put me off a little bit TBH. To use like the keyboard section of Figure, would one use the arpeggiator or is there a different area to create the synth patterns?

    Thanks for the recommendation. I will take a look at it.

    Yup. Export and live

  • Hey, this looks great! Yes, it saves a midi file - good for doodling on a phone & exporting midi. Says so on the app store, I'll be trying this soon!

    Just tried Beatonal and it is very usable. Thank you for the suggestion.
    Was going to buy the IAP but I suspect that this app might be abandoned. It saw a singe update a week after release, the developer was here briefly, and the "support" site linked from App Store is a single page with a video and links to purchase. Does anyone know more?

    @db909
    Does Beatonal support midi sync? Wondering if I can sync external gear. Thanks.

    It’s also on android so maybe that has to do with less frequent updates. Works well though, I bought the iap and didn’t have any issues or bugs to speak of

  • Beatonal, in under the radar. Thanks, @db909!

    You’re welcome. It’s a handy little item to have around.

  • It is cool for the midi, but man does it feel clunky compared to Figure.
    Still awesome, though.
