Action Camera for Music and Other Adventures

I have been looking into getting a GoPro for a while now…for music, paddle and wake boarding etc. However they are very expensive, and I would much rather spend my money on music gear if I had a choice. Does anybody have any advice for or links to other action cameras that may be a little bit more affordable? Ones that you use for music? The Zoom products look awesome. Also just curious to know what other AB people are using to film their music creations, doesn’t even have to be an action camera per se. Even if it’s a camera/interface combo...I’m curious.
