SonicLogic Updated đź‘Ť
FYI, Sonic Logic, a easy to use and very nicely designed midi control surface creator just got a significant update. Where not as powerful as Midi Designer Pro 2, Lemur and the rest of the field, it makes up for this in lowering the intimidation factor of these apps. Plus it’s the only one to fully embrace and support AudioBus 3 midi.
Lots of power and good stuff added.
Here’s a handy screen I was easily able to create to play Ruismaker and Ruismaker FM plus two other synths all from one screen, as an example.

Ah ha. I had asked (in this thread: https://forum.audiob.us/discussion/25913/sonic-logic-3-is-out-now) how people use this but didn’t get any response. I’m already intrigued by your multiple-app-from-one-screen set up. Any other uses you’ve found?
Well, honestly? I’m super intrigued by all apps of this type and spend a bunch of time learning them and setting up cool surfaces ... that I rarely use. I think if I performed more, or was more of a jammer I’d use them more. But I spend most of my time getting patterns and clips down in DAWs to build arranged songs.
I think if you were going for a performance setup where you had a regular set of apps and parameters you regularly played with, something like this is ideal to never have to app switch. SonicLogic is so easy to use that it lowers the barrier to setting up surfaces like that well below the learning curve of the other apps. It’s very fun to use, while powerful enough now for most uses.
@wim You have midifire too I think. I was thinking of getting this to use with midifire, as a controller hub to feed stuff into midifire. I was also planning to use this on my other old iPad2, and run my apps on my Air2, and connect them with midifire through WiFi. I am hoping to drastically reduce app switching this way, as well as use SonicLogic as a controller hub for midifire in general.
I don’t know, what do you think?
I do have MidiFire, and yes it does make it possible to connect up using the network session between devices. It was too slow and unreliable, even over a dedicated wireless router, and I gave up on the idea unfortunately.
Aww crap. Bummer.
Thanks for the feedback.
Others have said it works OK for them. It might be worth a try.
