ios sequencer with trigger condition per step

Hi!
I’m looking for a sequencer that has trigger probability per step. I can’t find one in the rozeta suite. It seems to me that groove rider has it and I can use it to sequence other apps with midi out. I’m I right?
Thanks

  • @Dawdles thanks, I’ll check out quatum. I want to use it mainly for drums/rhytmic stuff.

  • Answering my own question: patterning should work too

  • Quantum's the one, mate. Just add more racks for each drum part if needed or just send specific steps to specific midi channels and you're good to go. @midiSequencer can drop some ideas too I guess.

  • Agree that Quantum is a good bet here but it does have a learning curve.

  • Thank you all, midisteps also very interesting. The gui seems a bit more intuitive than quantum.

    GR-16?

Think it's called Chance in the app.

Also has Elektron style Trig Conditions.

Ok, ~I see this was already suggested.

  • I’ve always liked the look of midiSTEPs (and midiLFOs for that matter) but I already have plenty of sequencing options. Out of all of them, I find I get on best with Patterning, which absolutely has probability per step (and an intuitive UI). Pairing it with SunVox today, and they make a beautiful match.

  • Patterning is the easiest path. Quantum is worth the effort to learn. MidiSequencer is pretty much Quantum, but 1 Rack instead of 6.

  • I tried patterning and it worked very nicely. It’s almost perfect, my only problem is it has only 8 tracks. I sequence Mv8 which has 16 sounds. It’s time for patterning to go AUv3. I don’t expext free update, I want to pay for it I know it’s worth it.

Um you do know that MV08 offers per step conditionals right? Seems odd that you’d use Patterning to sequence it since mv08 has what you want built in :* B) <3

Just Press+Hold the step you want conditionals applied to and the options will come up.

  • @echoopera No I didn’t know that!!! Thanks a lot!

Sure thing man. We have too many tools on iOS and sometimes we overlook features. It doesn’t have the Percentage of play option but it has some nice conditionals to noodle with B)

  • @echoopera when I press hold I get an automation menu but no option for conditional trigger

You get to add conditionals around Tone, Pitch, Decay, Reverb, Levels and such. It doesn’t offer play Probability though.

  • @echoopera ok thank you. Play probability would be nice though. That’s a feature request if the creator of mv08 happen to read this :)

  • Yeah, 16 voices is a tough one. Most of my drum sequencers have 8 or 9.

Maybe sequence 8 Channels with the Probability component and go nuts in mv08 with the other aspect of per step automation.

GrooveRider. Probability per step, conditional actions galore per step, 16 channels, easy to use. Seems to check all the boxes IMO. The only things I’m not so sure about for you are the midi out is one channel per pad, and note output only - no cc’s.

A 16 channel Patterning. Now that would be the bomb!

Still need to get that Grooverider. Damnit! B)

Just to say, Patterning’s 'coarse tune' parameter can be set per step. This means you can trigger different notes on different steps of the same track. If your drum triggers are simply different notes on the same MIDI channel (they often are) and you don’t mind sharing tracks, you can get a lot happening with just 3 or 4 tracks. Maybe start with kicks and snares sequenced on track 1, add in a few clicks and bips or whatever makes you happy and take it from there. You might even have room left over for a bassline and a couple of melodic bits. 8 tracks can be a lot.

  • @tomato_juice wow thanks! I didn’t know you can do that in patterning. @wim the only reason I haven’t bought gr-16 is that I spend more time looking for and buy new apps than making music. So I have decided I don’t want to spend time to learn a new ”complex” app, at least for now. I was thinking it takes less time to learn a new sequencer than a groovebox. I know that eventually I have to buy gr-16, I don’t think I can resist it for long.
