Automatic start-stop recording

I would like to record something in the middle of the night, between 3:00 and 3:15 AM (I have some troubles with my heating system and would like some “evidences”).
Is there an app that will let me schedule the start and stop of the recording? I would like to avoid to record the whole night because I don’t have a lot of place left on my ipad.

Try the Workflow app - it is now acquired by Apple and free. Google for workflow actions to schedule audio recording.

Thanks, very good idea. I found an easy workflow :
    1. Enter the delay until next start (in seconds...)
    2. A “wait” function get this time and start a timer
    3. The “Record audio” app is started for a certain amount of time.

  • Glad to know it worked out for you

  • Funny to see that the “Workflow” app, owned by Apple themselves, doesn’t manage effectively the background mode. If your workflow run in background, it can only survive 10 minutes then it is killed. So I cannot have a timer as I want...Maybe one of our music dev can explain Apple how to do it 😄😄

  • It is possible to set a workflow to start at a specific time or place

Thanks but I think that with LPC you have to physically touch the screen to start the action. In my case, I would like the action to start fully automatically

@cuscolima You could always use something like Voice Record Pro app and enable silence detection. It works in the background and would only record when the sound is louder than the silence threshold you set. No way to set a start and stop time as far as I know. It would work like a VOX voice activated tape recorder.

You can even plug in an external usb mic with the camera connection kit and point it toward your heating system. It should give you more than adequate results.

That’s not what the article I linked says

“Launch Center Pro has two features that bring special capabilities to your workflows: time and location triggers. These triggers allow you to schedule notifications to run a workflow at a specific time or when you enter a certain area.

To configure an LCP action’s triggers, tap the edit button in the upper right corner, and then tap an action. Use the “Schedule” option to set a time-based trigger, or the “Location Triggers” option to set a location-based one.‘

  • My understanding is that you can configure LCP to display a notification at a certain time or when you are in a certain location. But you still have to press a link (hyper-link, button,...) in the received notification to start the workflow. This is what I would like to avoid as I will be sleeping at this time ;o)
