CCK 3, will it power my interface? (Yessssss!)
I’ve just bought NI komplete 6 interface and realised that it has no power adapter and it only powers off USB. I don’t have a powered hub so decided to get the CCK 3, which I did but I started having doubts that maybe CCK3 only charges the iPad but doesn’t send any power towards the periferrals. Any words of comfort/reassurance? Thanks
Comments
Yep, for all the hype, it sends the same amount of power to the peripherals. So if you needed a powered usb hub before, you probably still will need it. The only improvement on the usb 3 camera adapter is keeping the iPad charged.
I can power my interface with the cck3 and 3 or 4 midi controllers without a powered hub.
Cool! Most likely I’m totally wrong
What interface are you using?
I use a zoom u 44. I also use a focusrite 18i8 but I don't think it can be buss powered.
Ok, thanks. Does the u 44 have batteries inside or is it plugged to the mains in any way? I bought cck3 on amazon via prime so can return it with no fuss but if it works I feel it might be the most stable solution for powering everything.
I have the Zoom u24 and you can use with with batteries and it works without a powered hub or you can just run it through USB to the CCK but you have to be supplying power to the iPad. Works perfectly
I think you'll love the cck3. I have used the u 44 with batteries, a power pack, and powering thru the cck3. All work great. You dont need the batteries when using the cck3. Not sure on the mains, do you mean monitors? I have it going thru the main outs to a Mackie mixer and to my powered monitors.
The good news is: Komplete 6 works with IOS!
Here I DIYd a little powered bank and everything lit up. Will update when CCK 3 gets here tomorrow. > @Bootsy said:
No, by mains i meant power adapter. So zoom is not powered in any way? That's promising.
Yup just have to have the cck3 plugged to power. Or a battery pack.
The main thing is: it works with IOS!
Yeah I wasn't sure if it was class compliant or not.
Sweet. I wasn't very impressed when I saw Komplete 6 doesn't have a power adapter.
Working like a champ with CCK 3 and Pro 10.5
But £30 ouch!
Nice! Glad it's working.
I also tried the plan B. Rather than getting a powered hub I just bought a long USB male to male (both type A plugs) and plugged one end to an iPhone charger and the other into my passive hub. Plugged Ipad and the interface into the hub and voila, all lit up.
Works with komplete 6 as well as zoom U24.
