possible to use a wah-wah or expression pedal?
After a hiatus of almost 20 years, my interest in iOS music has led me back to playing the guitar again, and I have already invested in a Line 6 Sonic Port with the Sonic Pod app, as well as Amplitube and Jamup.
I would like to use an expression pedal to create wah-wah type effects, is there a controller that is compatible with the iPad and the guitar interface? Maybe over bluetooth if latency isn't an issue? Or is there a device that can be plugged in to the chain some how and send MIDI signals to the host app?
Thanks.

I've been curious about the Blueboard, but I don't have it yet.

The only annoying thing is programming the midi connections, but if it is an app you care a lot about, it is a worthy investment. Be sure to check out another app by audiobus co-dev Michael called Loopy HD if you get this controller.
When it comes to midi expression pedals, be sure the app you want to use has the capability to have that type of midi message sent to it, otherwise it would be useless for you.
Where in your effects chain do you intend to put the wah pedal?
@PaulB: wherever it can go
@funjunkie27: there's no modulation/wah pedal in that board though?
(edit) sorry, I see there is an option
@AQ808: thanks - how does that plug in to the iPad and will it work with the Sonic Port Line 6 plugged in at the same time?
I already have Loopy HD
Ideally you'd want an audio interface with both guitar line in and midi connections built in. I haven't looked around for the cheapest options there, but you probably want something compatible with the ipad out of the gate. I'd definitely consider the newer apogee interfaces for ipad, though maybe others can suggest something else.
@richardyot: the Blueboard apparently has two sockets for expression pedals that can be used to control things such as volume and wah-effects in a compatible app. I was very interested in getting this but not after learning it was only compatible for iPad3 and above (I have an iPad2).
Also there are some problems with frequent Bluetooth disconnection
There are also latency complaints with the Blueboard.
It seems Alesis IO dock is definitely a cheaper line and midi interface option with a lot of flexibility for around $150. I wonder what users think of it.
The cheapest apogee with midi capability is the Duet at $650.
You can also use a breath controller as a wah/expression control. I can recommend the USB one from TEControl. You need a CCK for that. And it's rather expensive but very cool...
Somebody shoould make a nice USB MIDI expression pedal. They don't seem to exist at all. Should be easy...
Silly question: can I put a regular wah-wah pedal between the guitar and the Line 6 going into the iPad?
Sure, why not? I never did that and it might not sound the way it does with an amp. But just try it, it should be okay.
Heck yeah! Use one all the time with the Line 6 Mobile in--- just goes like this:
Guitar cable to wah in
Wah out to Line 6 special cable
Line 6 special cable to Mobile In
Mobile In connects to Ipad 2
Works just like an amp!
You should have no problem with a regular wah doing that, but I definitely wouldn't recommend using a wah/volume style pedal with that configuration.
Someone did a review about Blueboard, I believe on Palmsound or Dischord and it wasn't a positive review.
Bummer. I liked the concept of it not tying up the lightning port.
