OT - Ampeg & Line 6 acquired by Yamaha

Interesting development. This combined with Gibson's bankruptcy and now Guitar Center on the brink of the same makes for a new and unique vendor landscape.

So I wonder what this means for a few things. Firstly, Ampeg had some weird and wonderful items over the years other than bass amps (what they're most known for). They had the Baby Bass, the Dan Armstrong guitars, and their guitar amps were used by the Stones for ages.

As for Line 6 - does that mean more or less of an iOS presence for Yamaha?

  • If I'm not mistaken Line 6 has been under the Yamaha 'umbrella' for a long time already?!

  • That I'm not sure of... never followed it too closely, but I saw these "official" announcements earlier.
